It's National EMS Week, with a heavy reminder of how needed they are

OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

This is National EMS Week and the events in Oklahoma are a reminder of how much we depend on first responders.

That massive destruction has first responders in Owensboro reviewing what they'd need to do, in the event we'd be faced with the same situation.

"The first responders are the key to every emergency that we deal with, and it is a true team effort," says Paul Nave with Owensboro-Daviess County 911.

Nave and his dispatchers deal with emergencies every day. No matter what the situation, he says it's group effort and communication that are crucial.
