Where's President Obama's climate agenda?

President Barack Obama began his second term with a ringing pledge to tackle climate change — saying that “the failure to do so would betray our children and future generations.”

Four months later, everyone’s still waiting.

Instead of taking bold steps, Obama’s environmental regulators are dodging questions about how they intend to rein in the nation’s largest sources of greenhouse gases. They missed a major deadline last month for rolling out rules for future power plants, prompting environmental groups and several states to threaten lawsuits. And the EPA has insisted to Congress that it’s not even working on regulations for the next piece of the carbon puzzle — the nation’s vast fleet of existing power plants.

Meanwhile, signs are growing that the administration is poised to approve the Keystone XL oil pipeline from Canada, despite pleas from his green activist supporters.

He needs congress to something BIG but he may not...Folks should look at all he has done & is DOING before complaining about the lack of some huge sweeping legislation that has ZERO chance of passing!!

This policy realm is one of the major reasons why a second term was so important, because a) congressional dysfunction makes progress on the environment dependent on executive orders, which are often easily reversed by an opposition party President, and b) we have four more years to push behavior in the right direction, as in the case of fuel efficiency standards. Americans will one day learn to love 54 mpg; there will be no turning back as manufacturers will push R&D in the direction of efficient solutions because it sells. Positive, long-term change is happening, even if it is unaccompanied by trumpets. Along these lines, I appreciated this comment:

Wait until his term is over. Then he will share the truth of his intentions and achievements. He is very shrewdly not touting every victory and lamenting every perceived defeat. He is keeping his own counsel so losers are not dispirited and winners are not emboldened. He is incredibly clever; in the traditions of Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, and FDR.

If you want, I can provide a list of the republican house members,
and the republican governors, and the republican senators

and maybe you can demand they start answering some of these things

Meanwhile, it is a beautiful Sunday morning here in NJ, with temparatures around 40
(any lower and the flowers might be devastated from a frost) but I plan on jumping into the water today anyhow.

It's summer and it's time for fun, fun, fun (til my daddy takes my t-bird away).

they're republicans.

President Obama is the President of the U.S., the leader of the dem party and has promised action on this issue.

Only a moron would demand anything from those you listed.

And I have your NJ cold beat all hollow. It snowed yesterday here in northern Vermont.

And why would a President knowing there are NOT enough votes, put something up
to then be politically humiliated at this juncture and then have the usual media say he is a lameduck. It does not make political sense.

When the more important thing to do would be to demand the voters get out and get rid of the Republicans in office that are holding everything down.

After all, even Max B. is better than any of the republicans currently in office.(not much better but still better).

Change the house (16 is all it takes to shift), keep the senate, THEN that would be the time to ram everything through and make sure it is all done correctly. (this deals with the first part of your OP question, I am not getting into the second part here and now).

(and NO the dems never had a working 60 not with Joe L. in office, and the months and months it took Al Franken to be officially seated).

and nothing much is going to happen between now and the middle of September anyhow.

Snow in May...amazing. Feel bad for the flowers and grass.
