Democrats have an uphill battle but they can win it.

Republicans have fixed the system by gerrymandering where they believe they cannot be beaten. They have no reason to compromise with Democrats. Their only threat is the Tea Party and they are willing to agree to the Tea Party agenda if that keeps them in power. It is the most destructive thing that could happen to our country.

But, if Democrats get a good turnout and Republicans get a poor turnout, even in the re-drawn districts, the Democrats can win. I'm not saying that Democrats should play dirty but politics ain't beanbag, as the old saying goes. This is serious business. Democrats have to look at it in a very serious way.

Under the present circumstances, with the threats posed by the rise of the Tea Party, it is totally acceptable to try and demoralize Republican voters. Anything that is not illegal that will keep them from voting for the Tea Party agenda is fair game. Ridicule and mockery are acceptable. George W Bush is not off-limits. Exaggeration to make a point is not unacceptable. Pointing fingers and laughing out loud at their antics may be effective? They are fools and should be made to look like fools. The scarlet letter of shame should be put on anyone that would vote for these dangerous ideologues.

Or we can play the nice guy and lose the election and maybe lose the country also. The time for partisanship is over. The time for compromise is over. It is war and Democrats should do everything in their power to get their supporters to the polls in the next election and to discourage Republican voters from following the pied pipers of the Tea Baggers. This is not a time for politics as usual.

Also, do not think for an instant that the Repubs will not do the same if they can get away with it. It is only fighting fire with fire. A lot of folks may not be comfortable with playing politics in such a serious manner but after the election is over, we will find them under the boot heels of these right-wing extremists. We need not be like them - we need to be cold-hearted honest with them. If they are going to follow these extremist Tea Baggers down the road they want to take our country, then we will not restrain from severely criticizing their actions. They do not get a free pass.

Or "let the Republicans win" like was done in 2010 does not deserve the benefit of the doubt.

As far as I can see, the Democratic agenda for the near future includes more corporate education policy, austerity and Social Security cuts, more Monsanto, and approving the Trans-Pacific job and wage killing free trade agreement.

What are these marvelous Democratic plans of which you speak?
