I find it almost beyond belief that this is even conceivable. But it may well happen. Scalia seems to have an almost visceral hatred of Americans exercising the franchise--at least, the "wrong" Americans exercising it--and his fellow "conservatives" aren't far behind. The seriousness of this can't be overestimated. People died for the right to vote, and we know what the Teabagger States want to do to that right. What happens if the election of 2016 turns on massive voter suppression? We could be facing a constitutional and political crisis not seen since the Civil War--much worse than 2000. What do people think the political fallout will be when/if it occurs?

(6,342 posts)Most Americans won't even have a clue what this law does, nor do they really care.
Americans have shown that they will basically accept anything their government does without much resistance. The government has discovered they can remove the rights from the people in a drip-drip fashion and no one will do anything.

Some will say, "well, it god's will". The slightly more informed will say, "God dammit they shouldn't 'a dune that... where's the cheezwiz momma?"
I am a pessimist on this one I'm afraid.
