TWO pressure cooker scares in one Sunday

I heard about this story on a local news station. The Mountain View Voice reports:

Police evacuated nearby residents and businesses after a pressure cooker was spotted in bushes outside a building at San Antonio Shopping Center Sunday evening, May 26. The evacuation was lifted at about 9 p.m.

At about 6:10 p.m., a resident from 545 San Antonio Road called police to report a pressure cooker in the bushes near the lobby doors, according to Mountain View police. "Upon arriving at the scene police used an infrared device and found the pressure cooker was radiating heat," police reported via the department's Facebook page.

Around 9 p.m., police reported "Everything checked out clear at San Antonio Shopping Center," and residents were allowed to return to their homes.

My search for this story on Google News returned a similar incident in the Detroit area (where I used to live as a young'un back in the mid 90s) as CBS Detroit (WWJ TV & AM) reports:

Police in Dearborn are trying to understand why a pressure cooker was left in the restroom of the Adoba Hotel, forcing the evacuation of guests until the early morning hours.

The evacuation also canceled Sunday night’s banquet of the University of Muslim Association of America.

The pressure cooker discovered at the hotel was detonated by police as a precaution, but contained no explosives.

Dearborn officers have determined that the pressure cooker had not been converted into any type of explosive device.

A pair of dirty underwear were detonated today when they were found in a field adjacent to a business conference. Police weren't taking any chances that they might be yet another underwear bomb. The shoes found nearby were likewise detonated, just for fun.
