A Comment To Will Pitts On T.O. Piece.

I was just thinking about your piece "The End of the Beginning". In the last paragraph you mentioned or implied that unknown event(s) would occur in your daughters lifetime. Certainly, you must be hoping she has a wonderful future. You wish for the best as anyone would. I hear what you are saying in the overall thesis of your essay. I have always dreamed of a time like OWS. Bummed that the flame burned out, so-to-speak. I alway wish there was a segment of our population that was "mad as hell, and not going to take it anymore". Certainly it would not be that difficult to find several million people pissed about their wages and hours getting cut, or not having ability feel safe about their health/medical concerns. If people really wanted to fix something they would do it--once you elimate the "fear factor". Americans have always been affraid. I always mention to people occasionally the protests that occurred in France back in the 90's.

The french truckers were protesting fuel price hikes, or some labor related issue. I believe they were in a union too. So how did they solve their complaint? They all parked their truck in a visible part of (Paris?) and litterly shut down the city by blocking most all major streets and highways, or a good part of it. I don't think it went on more than a week or so--maybe 2. It was after the actions by the truckers, the powers that be then agreed to resolve the issue ( I assume to the drivers satisfaction), and ended the shutdown.

But I'm led to believe that there may be a ray of hope in "our" lifetime. I got that inspiration from an interview I saw of Michael Moore. The question pertained to changes in our society that we are currently dealing with now: immigration, jobs, environment, etc. The comment was that we may not see those changes in our lifetime--you and me. But Michael interrupted and said, "oh no, you're wrong. We will see these changes in our lifetime because the generation coming up now will vote to make those changes". Those were his words paraphrased, but in that context. That thought, which MM stated, was one I never thought of. Sure I thought of the future, but with the way things have been going, I was in that "downer" crowd too. So I'm taking (at least trying to) maintain a sense of positive-ness since negative stuff wears you down.

I was kinda encouraged by hearing that. But my premise is we have to stop walking around grumbling and being negative. Being on a downer doesn't help us. I'm trying to get a petition some visibility to end corporate media. I'm not having any luck getting it attention. But I'm not going to stop trying. None of us should stop trying. As Yoda said, " don't try, do".

P.S. Hope the new addition to the family is not interupting your sleep too much at night.

P.S.S. I errored by accidently posting this in media forum. Emphasis on "accidently".

grass roots, organic change. They are less likely to go to church. They are less likely to vote party and more likely to vote issue. They see something wrong, ask why, come up with answers, and don't hesistate to act. This gives me hope.

...I feeling the same way about the story. In other words, I was venting. So in my rush forgot it. I was hoping Will would see it for greater insight. Intent was to--at the very least--provide some glimmer of optimism.

yes. The downtrodden have no energy for change.

"Americans have always been afraid"--some truth to that. We don't want to believe things are that bad.

Being in such a schizoid culture--"don't worry be happy" one day, and "how did I get here", the next.
