State laws

Each U.S. state (and the District of Columbia) has its own age of consent. Currently state laws set the age of consent at 16, 17 or 18. The most common age is 16.[46]
age of consent 16 (30): Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Georgia, Hawaii, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia
age of consent 17 (9): Colorado, Illinois, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, Texas, Wyoming
age of consent 18 (12): Arizona, California, Delaware, Florida, Idaho, North Dakota, Oregon, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania[47]

Of those I remember right now, Germany & Austria are 14. Denmark is 15. Spain is the lowest in Europe at 13. I think with younger ages of consent there are often other provisions like a higher age of consent with educators, etc.

In Europe, the age of consent for heterosexual contact is generally the same as for homosexual contact. I think European common law now requires that.

Quite a few are also 16, such as Norway, the Netherlands and Switzerland. I think it is generally 16 now in the UK.

There is one exception in Europe - the Vatican! There I believe that you can only consent to sex in marriage, and that the minimum age for marriage is 14 for girls and 16 for boys.

Based on the above, I think you can draw your own conclusions on the answer to the same question regarding people of androgynous gender-identities, genderfuck, intersex, and all other biological-sex/gender-identity permutations regardless of sexual orientation.

I do not think consensual sex between HS-aged individuals should be illegal.

You have to answer the question posed...but the question posed wasn't "Is it a criminal act?" it was literally two words "Criminal act?" leaving the interpretation of what was being asked upon the questioned. You cannot imply or infer the words "Is it a..." into the question and insist that is the only appropriate interpretation of the question posed.

Since now is as good of a place as any to put in this thread...the response you've been spewing all over this thread is factually-wrong...it's not illegal in at-least one state and probably more than one. Every state has "windows-of-permissibility" in their statutes, otherwise you'd have 16 year-and-2 day olds getting arrested constantly for fucking 15 year-and-11 month olds. I know for a fact the window of permissibility in the state of CT is "3 and any fraction years where the younger party is no less than 14 years of age." (In other words, as long as you're at-least 1 day short of 4 years difference and the younger party is at-least 14: legal.) Nearly-15 and barely-18 is not illegal in CT. It is strongly socially frowned upon...which is probably for the best.

Want to guess what state I grew up in which would cause me to know that? Feel free to pose a cake recipe in response though.

There are a number of states in which it is only against the law when the defendant is over a certain age, or there is a large enough gap between the two (10 years in two states). (And no, I'm not going to hunt up the links I've posted several times already - there is a handy-dandy, relatively recent chart that is a Google search away.)

an under age child is a criminal act. Think about all the accusations made against two heterosexuals, one age 18-20+ having relations with the (usually) girlfriend age 16! They can, and many time are charged with statutory rape! I'm old now, but I rember any girl under 18 was considered jail bait!

so kids who go to the same school can date without the older one being called a predator.

It's one thing to troll around a high school after graduation looking for young kids to date, and another to meet someone in the school band or on a sports team and feel affection and start a relationship. There has to be some way to differentiate the two, regardless of what sex either or both are.
