Michele Bachmann has gone from presidential "contender" (yeah, we're just gonna put some quotes around that one) to being in serious jeopardy of losing even her current House seat. That's not entirely surprising, of course: Even though she's in a deep-red district, she's been nearly booted a few times, and her recent race against Democrat Jim Graves turned out to be a squeaker. Then there's her presidential campaign being investigated by the FEC and FBI. Oh, and the bit where she keeps saying crackpot things and being a general embarrassment to her own party.

1. Gimme a call when she actually loses or goes to jail

9 fucking lives for this one, mainly because Rethugs never have to pay for their bad behavior.

7. She already pays big dividends to the DNC

When she outspends her opponent by 12-1 and barely manages to win, that's a strategic victory for Democrats. If the Republicans had a few more Bachmanns, taking back the House would be child's play.

2. Really the only time she's come close to being booted was last November

in the past she's always walked away with the win.

9. Consider the cost of that

She won by only 4300 votes to someone with no political experience after outspending him 12-1. Now Jim Graves is a political up and comer with an underdog reputation who will most likely generate his own funding with no help from the DNC, facing a loony candidate who is way too long in the tooth. Republicans will pour money into her 2014 campaign and she will still lose. They will also be pouring money into her legal defense fund.

3. What gives me more hope than anything, is that the last election was

close. I'm never all that confident anything will come of legal transgressions, but it sounds as though her constituents are tiring of her -- finally.

4. She'll have foreign policy cred from her upcoming trip to Russia

As a member of the house foreign committee (why John bonner!). I hopes she doesn't embarrass us or incite a war with her stupid comments.

There's nothing that shows you're "focused on your district" more than cutting television ads highlighting yourself and your quixotic obsession with holding dozens and dozens of meaningless votes to repeal ObamaCare. She's a true saint, that one. (Oh, and her office has also already produced an anti-Graves, anti-Nancy Pelosi web video. Again, though, not focused on campaigning. Shame on you for thinking so.) Still, having your constituents hear more from you is a bit of a risky move, for far-right Republicans like Bachmann; the entire 2012 election season was ample enough evidence of that.
