Which means, any real estate closings are put on hold.
A little effect on the economy of the area.

Fun fact I discovered when I bought this house just after Katrina and just before Wilma entered the Gulf.

Increasingly, DU is becoming like digging diamonds out of the septic tank.

Guess it depend on how much you like diamonds and/or how much the stench bothers you.

I life in coastal SC, so I pay attention to the tropics (even hoping for a small storm to brush by) but I'm drawing a blank on a storm that originated in the Pacific and crossed into the Gulf.

They normally come off the Atlantic. The ones off the west coast of Mexico generally move to the west/northwest IIRC.

An Atlantic–Pacific crossover hurricane is a tropical cyclone that develops in the Atlantic Ocean and moves into the Pacific Ocean,
or vice versa.
In recorded history, a total of seven tropical cyclones have done this.
It is more common for the remnants of an North Atlantic hurricane to redevelop into a different storm in the Pacific;
in such a scenario, they are not considered the same system.

I spent this week getting my hurricane supplies in order ( even went as far as to buy a generator this year).

My only concern is I live in a flood zone.

I'm in west central floriduh and since I bought it, we haven't even had a big rain storm.

Good luck and remember 1 gallon of water for each person per day for drinking, keep 7 days worth on hand.

buy dinti moore beef stew, and a bunch of canned goods. rotate them out as needed. Good luck again.

and will probably head east after a bit as a fish storm in the Atlantic.

She had 75mph gusts at the time I posted so Cat1 was always on the cards. Thankfully she should not get stronger although who knows what happens if she slows down
