Its one-year training program, for example, allows people fleeing from any number of war-torn countries to learn the skills, including English, to find better employment. The workers are given an hourly wage, starting at $7.25 and increasing incrementally depending on their adeptness at sorting clothes.
But they do not get health insurance, according to LDS Church spokeswoman Ruth Todd, who explained the cuts as a way "to serve as many people as possible."
Reducing the trainees hours, she said, "has allowed for a dramatic increase in participants."

Not giving health insurance is a good thing - more people get to enter the dying pool.

(10,572 posts)So basically they are spinning this that they are helping "people fleeing from any number of war-torn countries" - cause so many of them want to live in Utah... When I lived in Utah a good friend of mine was the manager of a DI in Provo - nearly all the employees were physically and or mentally handicapped.
This is a really awful decision, something personally I could never see "Jesus" doing.

(3,398 posts)about a month ago, that beginning Jan 1, it will be providing our part time employees (about 125) with health insurance at no cost to them as it does for the full time employees (about 240). In each case, additional family members can be added at additional expense.
I am full time, but this is such a great deal for our part time people...most of whom have had no insurance at all.

Damn. two thrift shops within walking distance- the DI and the Pride shop- and I'm pissed off at both of them right now. I hope Savers is still cool to shop at.

(12,272 posts)As much as I gather, the slaves are your family members. Maybe I am wrong, it sure doesn't make sense. But think about that, looking forward to having slaves after death, that is a religion.
