Republicans seek to "save" Detroit the way the Visigoths saved Rome

Your city could be next in line for looting.

Snyder: DIA art vulnerable to liquidation

Mackinac Island — Gov. Rick Snyder acknowledged Wednesday the masterpieces of the Detroit Institute of Arts could be vulnerable to liquidation in a Chapter 9 bankruptcy of the city.

"The goal is not to sell the assets of the DIA in a wholesale fashion," Snyder said before the opening of the Detroit Regional Chamber's Mackinac Policy Conference. "They're an asset of the public in many respects, and it's a great asset of the city."

Detroit Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr set off a firestorm last week when he warned the museum and its world-famous art could be put up for sale to satisfy creditors in the event of what would be the largest municipal bankruptcy in American history.

Snyder has repeatedly said he and Orr are trying to help Detroit avoid bankruptcy.

... if a hedge fund bond manager might have to choose a less-expensive jet, or if a banker has an empty space on the wall of his mansion that needs to be decorated?

If we sell off the art to make the bondholders whole, we can make them BOTH happy. It's a win-win!

self aggrandizement that has not defaulted on every humane value known to man or animal. There are always some of the perpetrators that avoid the repercussions. But not all of them.

This state is under siege by the sort of scalawags that are the worst of the worst in humanity. They must be stopped.
