Poll: Huge Majority Says Economy Should Trump Congressional Investigations

Poll: Huge Majority Says Economy Should Trump Congressional Investigations

An overwhelming majority of Americans said that the economy and unemployment should take precedence over the Congressional investigations into the Internal Revenue Service's targeting of conservative groups, the Justice Department's subpoena of Associated Press phone records and last year's deadly attack in Benghazi, Libya, according to a new poll from Quinnipiac University released Thursday.

The poll found that 73 percent of American voters nationwide believe that dealing with the economy and unemployment should be a higher priority than the investigations. Fewer than a quarter of Americans — 22 percent — believe that the investigations should be the higher priority.

Among the three controversies engulfing Washington, D.C., the poll found that a plurality of 44 percent believe the situation involving the IRS is the most important. A majority of 53 percent said that the agency's improper targeting of conservative groups constitutes a scandal and 76 percent believe that a special prosecutor should be appointed to investigate the situation.

and maybe even try to repeal ObamaCare for the 38th time, which has already cost the American taxpayer $55 million that could have better been spent on funding infrastructure spending - a.k.a. jobs.

run on jobs when they took back the house a number of years ago. I want to say I recall them saying that job creation was their #1 priority. Well it's been a number of years since they took the House and they were obviously lying.

They pretend they ran on jobs because their only answer to anything is more tax cuts for the rich. They have no intention of creating jobs in any other way. Which basically means they have no intention of creating jobs. They couldn't care less about jobs anyway. They just want to steal our Social Security.

Poll: Voters want special prosecutor for IRS case

Most Americans want a special prosecutor to investigate possible abuses at the Internal Revenue Service, according to a new poll.

The Quinnipiac University national poll says respondents support an IRS special prosecutor by 76% to 17%, including 63%-30% among Democrats.

Also, you know why the WSJ doesn't want a special prosecutor?

An investigation would likely expose the GOP and teabaggers.

If they just want the facts and don't suspect any real wrongdoing, then why support a special prosecutor - just let the DOJ investigate itself.

Spin is not reality, no matter how hard you try to make it so.

I'll repost:

68 percent of Democrats believe the decision was made by civil service employees, not the Obama administration.

In fact, a plurality (45 percent) of those polled believe that to be the case.

75 percent of Democrats don't believe the administration mislead on the issue.

Only 29 percent of Democrats describe the incident as a "scandal."

In reality, if the vast majority want a special prosecutor, then they don't trust the admin to investigate itself on this matter.

But keep up the spin, there's evidently 37% who'll buy it.

I realize those things mean little to some if it casts negative light on a favorite.

I realize there are some who will be moved to try to spin away the "bad" truth and proclaim loudly that the bad just just ain't so.

But most of us deal in reality. Even those of us here.

As I said, you probably have a third here buying your tireless and failing spin.

That number is probably dwindling with each passing day.

That would explain the underwhelming response to some of your recent threads on the topic.

You can't stop the rain by telling others it isn't raining.

But keep it up. There's always a market for magic beans.
