Star studded concert to benefit One Fund Boston

Before the music brought down the TD Garden in Boston there was a standing ovation for the survivors and first responders of the Boston Marathon Bombings. They were given front row seats to the star studded fundraiser which benefits One Fund Boston.

Thursday nights event raised money for those who were injured and their families. People turned out by the tens of thousands to show their support. Tickets sold out in mere minutes. More than $37 million dollars has already been raised.

Local celebrities and music icons like Aerosmith, James Taylor and News Kids on the Block lent their voices to the cause.

"They're the rock stars tonight. Were just here to bring a few smiles," said Donnie Wahlberg of New Kids on the Block.

'Truly Boston Strong' at show for marathon victims

BOSTON — The song "Come Together" their rallying cry, performers at a benefit concert for victims of the deadly Boston Marathon bombing had thousands of people cheering Thursday for a city that has pulled together to overcome adversity.

Concert proceeds will go to One Fund Boston, the compensation fund established by Gov. Deval Patrick and Mayor Thomas Menino to help bombing victims.

The amount of money raised by the concert won't be available until next week, a spokesman for the event's producer said. Ticket prices for the sold-out show ranged from $35 to close to $300.

It was a night of joy, tears, laughter and standing ovations, but co-organizer and NKOTB member Donnie Wahlberg said the artists on stage were not the true stars.

"You deserve the credit," the Dorchester native told the crowd. "I think we've shown the world in the last few months what many in Boston have already known, that we are not just one of the greatest cities in the world, we are one of the greatest families in the world."

The outpouring of love and support is felt by the survivors. That was clearly shown on Jeff Bauman's face tonight. The joy was poignant.

Boston thanks the world for their love and support.

Boston Strong forever!

Thanks, Tx.

night, she! I couldn't even hear it at first because I was attempting WMP and that was going nowhere.. so I clicked Adobe Flash and Viola!

It wasn't even televised and then out of the Blue.. you had a Visual for us! And, we're in time to see James, Carole, and Jimmy Buffet in all their heartfelt glory. When Carole mentioned she was the only woman performing last night did you see that little smile on James Taylor?

Yeah, I wasn't going to have a word but then I thought.. Nah, that's just wrong.

You know, Cha. If you hadn't ask me "Who was speaking" I never would have found that site.

A night to be remembered.

I do believe that James Taylor said that ALL of them were doing it for free. So the bulk of the money would go to the victims.
