Pangea was when all the continents were joined into one.

There may have been islands but pretty much the majority of the land was all on one side of the earth

One suggestion I might posit for the similar outlines is that energy/water flowing between continents cause complementary contours.

Just thinking out loud. Please don't get angry with me. Not trying to argue.
