But I don't think this ad fell into that trope. Dad was an innocent victim of an aggressive Cheerios drowning child.

Because that was my stepfather's favorite snack

And I hate that piece of shit.

Luckily, there's a good chance this commercial will make him re-think his snack choice and I can eat them again knowing it will stick in his craw.
