https://www.huffpost.com/entry/tj-ducklo-biden-press-aide-resigns_n_60287067c5b6d667582d4a37TJ Ducklo, a White House press aide, resigned Saturday after facing backlash for threatening a Politico reporter.
Ducklo announced his resignation in a statement, in which he expressed disgust for my behavior. The White House said it had accepted Ducklos resignation.
The press aide admitted to using abhorrent, disrespectful and unacceptable language in conversations with Politicos Tara Palmeri, who had been working on a story exploring potential ethical concerns arising from Ducklos relationship with Axios political reporter Alexi McCammond.
Ducklo reportedly attempted to stop Palmeri from publishing her story by threatening her and using disparaging language.
I will destroy you, he told Palmeri, according to Vanity Fair. He also reportedly accused Palmeri of being jealous of his relationship with McCammond and envious because another man had previously wanted to fuck McCammond and not you.
When news broke of Ducklos threats, the White House placed him on a one-week suspension without pay ― but people immediately asked why he hadnt been fired.
President Joe Biden said last month that anyone who treated colleagues with disrespect or talked down to someone would be fired on the spot.
In her statement confirming Ducklos resignation, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said the Biden administration remained committed to striving every day to meet the standard set by the President in treating others with dignity and respect, with civility and with a value for others through our words and our actions.

(14,118 posts)condemn Al Franken. Ducklo probably thinks he made the best choice by resigning. Maybe he's right. I wish him well.

(30,408 posts)and his situation was nothing like Franken's.
He not only threatened her, but, by his own admission, showered her with verbal abuse, likely of a misogynistic nature -- He gets no pass from me.

(29,892 posts)I don't think this is Biden's fault so I want to get that out of the way. After the People magazine story it looked like Politico was doing a minor conflict of interest story. His girlfriend informed Axios when the relationship begun & moved to other campaigns. At some point I can trust people to keep their personal views independent from their ability to do their job so I have no issues with that.
I do think his remarks were wrong especially the "jealous" part but his job as a deputy press secretary is to avoid getting the administration involved in controversies like this so he failed at that part of his job. He should have done a no comment.
