OBPA sues over NPS ORV rules

I love acronyms.

Anyhow, the National Park Service is clamping down on the tradition of driving on the beaches in Hatteras, a tradition that started because there were no roads there.

There's a road there now but the tradition continues.

Property owners are outraged about the plan.

Visitors have mixed feelings. Some only come to the Outer Banks because they can use their four-wheel drive vehicles to get to a perfect fishing spot.

Others go there to get away from folks in 4WD vehicles.

What say you?

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.

Tell me more...
