We don't trust private contractors to operate metal detectors at airports

but we do trust them to run NSA surveillance programs and access to data? um...ok..

Christopher Boyce, who sold secrets to the Soviets in 1970's, worked for a private company contracted by the CIA. Read up on his story. Very similar to this Snowden affair.
