On this Valentines Day, one of the more unorthodox activities available to lovebirds is the ability to take that special someone for a tour of the Newtown Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant in the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn. New York Citys Department of Environmental Protection is offering a tour of the sewage treatment facility that lasts just under two hours and culminates in an expansive view of the Manhattan skyline and the 53-acre Newtown plant from 130 feet up.

For the record, have been covering some real hard core news, but will be posted all over facebook and twitter, not here.
SO if you really want to know what happened this weekend in san diego, of quite possibly national importance, just not here.
And a few of the hard core party loyalists would be jealous as well.

(20,627 posts)Thanks to you and your demands for non (crunchy) news, we don't get to hear about hard core news that could be breaking nationally any second now!
Thanks!

(13,446 posts)He designed sewage treatment plants and had slides of all the ones he'd designed. One night, for date night, he showed me slides of all of them and explained the function of all the different parts. I was especially enthralled with the slides showing what happens to flushed condoms.
He is legend in my circle of friends.

(151,269 posts)"real hard core news?" We wouldn't want to miss it, I'm sure. So, if you could leave little hints or a cookie crumb trail, we'll find our way to your news. Just give us a clue, won't you?

(154,021 posts)them, you will NOT get them here.
As far as this site, and it is due to people like you, even coverage of the DEMOCRATIC PARTY does not belong here.
So you can wait for it to be on CNN's The Situation Room with Wolf, or perhaps some Judith Miller.
You got your wish... be happy. No news for you, just stupid shit.

(151,269 posts)Nice attack strategy. There's plenty of news here, most of it from reliable sources. I like that.
And, as always, people here will check what is posted for accuracy and will point out anything that is not accurate and well-reported. I like that, too. DU is a wonderful resource. It's a pity you won't be using it to get your words out.
"People like you"....indeed. It's people like us who are checking stories out after the fact and finding the flaws that should have been corrected before publication.
Have a nice day. BTW, I did subscribe to your Facebook thingy, so your "hardcore" news will show up in my feed. Who knows? Maybe I'll post it here after verifying the information.

(151,269 posts)that your news concerns an Occupy gathering at the Democratic Convention in your area. I'll read your report when it appears. My question: were you credentialed to be inside where the Democrats were making news, or did you just cover the Occupy thing outside? Nice photo of the guy in the mask, but I'd be more interested in what was said inside the hotel. I'm an attendee at the Democrat Farmer Labor party conventions here in Minnesota, and may even be a delegate at the state convention this year. I'm always interested in such doings in California, since I lived there for decades and was involved in Democratic party activities there, too. I hope you'll have some coverage from the actual event, instead of just reports on the Occupy protests.
Once your story is published, I'll check it out. Facebook subscriptions are a good thing. You won't reach as many people as you do here, of course, but, hey...you'll reach some. It's all good, eh?
BTW, PM me if you want some tips on getting press credentials for things like this. It's good to get inside and talk with other journalists and interview the people who are actual convention delegates. There are some genuinely crunchy stories at such events, if you're inside and have press credentials.

(154,021 posts)you can follow the facebook...that is all you will get from me.

(151,269 posts)If there's anything of value there, I may post it here. If not, I won't. I see that there is lots of media coverage of the convention, so I'll check that out, too. Right now, I'm looking for a transcript of Governor Brown's speech. I'll post a link when I find it. What did you think of his speech when you heard it in person. He's a decent speaker, but not a great one. I've attended a number of events where he spoke.
Here's a pretty good story on the Convention:
http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-democrats-20120212,0,2001615.story
It didn't really address the Occupy protest outside, though, but it has lots of info from inside where things are happening. It might be a good backgrounder for you.
