'Watching a black guy get arrested is the funniest thing ever:' Nevada congressman's son tweets

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2341732/Watching-black-guy-arrested-funniest-thing-Nevada-congressmans-son-tweets-racist-sexist-remarks-refers-President-Obama-slave.html

'Watching a black guy get arrested is the funniest thing ever:' Nevada congressman's son tweets racist and sexist remarks and refers to President Obama as a 'slave'

A Nevada congressman has apologized for his son's racist and sexist tweets, in which he repeatedly refers to women as 'sluts' and 'whores' who belong in the kitchen and calls President Obama a 'slave' who is only good at 'spear chucking and rock skipping.'

Joey Heck, 16, is the son of Republican Joe Heck. Among the younger Heck's more than 3,000 tweets, he brags about having insider knowledge of Congress and national security, he ridicules women, refers to homosexuals as 'f*****s' and calls black people 'n***as.'

The high school student tweeted on March 21, 'If you're a guy and you cross your legs and swing your foot... You're gay.'

On Jan 2 he said, 'Watching a black guy get arrested = funniest thing ever.'

Around the same time, he retweeted a message by user '@DictatorHitler' that said,'#IGotAThingFor blonde hair, blues eyes.... Mmm Mmm Mmmm #AryanPride.'

He called a girl a 'Mormon' for stating that she disliked oral sex and joked during a Jets football game that '[Mark] Sanchez can hop the border faster than he can throw the ball.'

On August 23 he retweeted a message that read: 'There are gays everywhere. Maybe that's gods way of thinning out the population because f****ts can't have babies.'

From my experience this is not unusual behavior for today's working class Republicans. Their steady diet of FOX propaganda has left them brain dead. The eat the bull crap and can't fathom they are supporting their own economic destruction.

I could care less what happens to them except for the fact that they are responsible for bringing down everyone. It reminds me of the story of the man who was drilling a hole in the bottom of the boat under his seat, when others protested, he said that he had a right since he had paid for his place, the Rabbi responded, but the water that will come in will drown us all.

Which was lighthearted ("I'm gonna wash that man right outta my hair...&quot in many respects, but did have a theme of racism as well, owing to a romance between one of the island lasses and one of the caucasian fellers, and the relationship between the female lead and her romantic counterpart, a widower with mixed race children. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Pacific_(musical)

South Pacific is a musical composed by Richard Rodgers, with lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II and book by Hammerstein and Joshua Logan. The work premiered in 1949 on Broadway and was an immediate hit, running for 1,925 performances. The story is based on James A. Michener's Pulitzer Prize-winning 1947 book Tales of the South Pacific, combining elements of several of the stories. Rodgers and Hammerstein believed that they could write a work based on Michener's work that would be financially successful and, at the same time, would send a strong progressive message on racism.

The plot centers on an American nurse stationed on a South Pacific island during World War II who falls in love with a middle-aged expatriate French plantation owner but struggles to accept his mixed-race children. A secondary romance, between a U.S. lieutenant and a young Tonkinese woman, explores his fears of the social consequences should he marry his Asian sweetheart. The issue of racial prejudice is candidly explored throughout the musical, most controversially in the lieutenant's song, "You've Got to Be Carefully Taught". Supporting characters, including a comic petty officer and the Tonkinese girl's mother, help to tie the stories together. Because he lacked military knowledge, Hammerstein had difficulty writing that part of the script; the director of the original production, Logan, assisted him and received credit as co-writer of the book.

They made a movie of it (where the clip comes from). It's worth a watch, it holds up fairly well if you view in the context of the era...!

I think it's much better than Carousel.

We performed South Pacific at my high school way back in 1970.

I was playing first violin in the "black hole"-- the pit orchestra.

Lieutenant Cable is fabulous. He's not sure he wants to be a lawyer like his dad. He also sings "Younger than Springtime".

Trivia: Operatic bass Ezio Pinza originally sang the role of Emile de Becque on Broadway. He was famous for his Don Giovanni, among other roles.

From 1949, when Mr. Pinza was 57 years old!!!
Some Enchanted Evening:

Love the way he "floats" the pianissimos on the last two phrases "Never let her go". Wonderful subtlety.

33. And this is how racism and sexism and homophobia really is
Sat Jun 15, 2013, 11:41 AM
Jun 2013

The people that are racist are constantly, constantly, constantly looking to make jokes and snark and other comments to like-minded people that appreciate such things. It reinforces among the community their opinions and sets in stone not only the though processes, but the social acceptance of such things into perpetuity.

Racists have race on the brain; they see everything through a racial filter. Same thing with sexists and homophobes.

They are like the boorish guy who tries to turn everything into a sex joke. "I'd like to see her download something, if you know what I mean!"

And it's all a cover-up for their own insecurities. They have to live in this bubble of being able to constantly find an oblique racists, or sexist, or homophobic comment to tweet about because they're really afraid of competing without the inherent advantage that white straight men have.

Disgusting fucker.

A typical douchebag son of Republican politician. Its second time in less than five days for the sons of Republicans to insult the black people. Republican daddies had to apologize for their sons' slurs but they haven't apologized directly to the black community at all.

Embarrassing...

And he will deserve every lick.

The problem is deeper than words. He speaks out of that which fills his heart.

Apologizing for "insensitive language"? Give me a break! That's like putting a Band-Aid on a tumor.

Bigotry is not genetic. I have no doubt he learned it all from a family member. That's the way it usually works.

He just has to learn not to speak out loud about what they really think. Otherwise, they love the kid!

"You know, I'm proud of my son. I raised him with the right values. These are our values, and these are true American values. My Daddy taught me them, and now I have passed them on to my own son. If some n-----s and fa---ts get upset over it, then so be it. My son spoke of how he, and millions of others like him, feels. I stand by my son, and indeed, have never been more proud of him. To all those who were offended, I say, Go fuck yourselves! You don't belong in this country in the first place!"

What a horrible, rotten kid this is. Wow.

How I long for the day when right-wing extremist buttholes like this are marginalized and relegated to the role of "bigoted cranks", like they used to be.

that this boy is a product of how he was raised. Children may grow to be more liberal and open minded than their conservative parents as they experience the bigger world. The possibility of the reverse is of course there, but I would suspect it is really really rare. If you have a teenager who is doing and saying such things publicly without your knowledge, you do not know your child or you are allowing it to happen because you know and agree.

I bet the apple/tree comparison is a good one, the adults just know when and where to say such things and if they are politicians know how to hide what they really think so they can get elected.

cesspool of racism, homophobia, misogyny, and xenophobia. It is really quite frightening. Here's an article from The Daily Beast about Flake's fine upstanding son. And then there's Rand Paul's little angel. Funny how you never see children of Democrats behaving in such an abhorrent manner.
