Geraldo hasn't forgiven Hastings, even in death, for reporting on his beloved General.
Edit with information about the Andi foundation.
Named after Hastings' first wife, who died in Iraq.

The Andi Foundation's mission is to help young women fulfill their education and career dreams. The fund provides financial assistance for college scholarships and access to internship opportunities in the fields of politics and media.
Andis Story
She Believed She Could, So She Did.
Andrea, "Andi," Parhamovich was killed on January 17th, 2007 in Baghdad, Iraq by a group of terrorists on her return from a political party training session. Born in the small town of Perry, OH on June, 16th, 1978, Andi came into this world wanting to make a positive difference through every experience that life had to offer. After graduating from Marietta College, Andi quickly satiated her affection for self-discovery and the unknown by moving to Boston, MA. She began her career in political communications with the Massachusetts Governor's office and Department of Economic Development.
After leaving Boston in 2003, Andi moved to New York City and worked in the corporate communications office at Miramax Films and later at Air America Radio. Yet Andi's fierce spirit and determination to make a difference in this world were made most apparent when she moved to Baghdad in August of 2006. Andi did not support the Iraq war; but believed strongly in promoting democracy and being a part of history in a positive way. She accepted a job with the International Republican Institute in Iraq before joining the National Democratic Institute in late 2006.
Andi wanted to use her education and skills as a communications specialist to help Iraqi political party leaders and parliamentarians develop strategies to rea ch out to voters and constituents. Andi's work helped to build the kind of national level political institutions that can help bridge the sectarian divide and improve Iraqi lives.

(65,616 posts)VHS. Rewind, play, rewind play. At least it was entertaining, unlike his safe cracking special that promised to have Jimmy Hoffa's skeletal remains in it! NOW THAT was a real snooze fest. I expected a troll or leprechaun to come flying out at Geraldo's face.
Maybe make it a CNN exclusive. 20,000 leagues under the sea?

(27,875 posts)I was able to determine which white supremacist skin-head actually threw the chair.
It was a big guy wearing a black & white checkered shirt; and he is also seen getting on the bus they had parked out back.
After the segment, they went to commercial, and all the white supremacists from the audience & the 2 who were on the stage got the hell out of there fast & the camera shows them all getting on the bus that they all came in, remember?
That was a long time ago. I wish I still had the VHS tape, it also had some crazy stuff from when Morton Downey Jr. had a talk show.

(10,597 posts)..... big fat bonus for saying that to her. I would bet money on it. Wonder what Geraldo's wife/SO thinks of him for saying that to her? Saying that was tantamount to "kicking a widow." I'm an old folgy, I guess, but what the fuck does his comment even mean? I can at least tell that it's not a nice thing to say to a widow.

(37,163 posts)Hastings was 33 when he died. Geraldo was 33 in 1976, which is pretty much his heyday as an actual reporter, and even then for Rivera it was from the cushier precincts of New York City television news.
Not that they were all that similar at the that age. Entry into the profession was a bit easier for Geraldo, a young lawyer recruited by a local station because he looked good and spoke well on camera.

As a young correspondent for Newsweek, Mr. Hastings covered the Iraq war. His fiancée, Andrea Parhamovich, followed him there, taking a job with a nongovernmental organization. She was killed in 2007 when her car was ambushed by Sunni insurgents.
Mr. Hastingss memoir of the experience, I Lost My Love in Baghdad: A Modern War Story, was published in 2008.

He's basically famous for being famous, like so many of our celebrities. A vacuous automaton built for TV.
