I have been waiting for years for someone to propose this...Thank you State Senator Constance Johnson of Oklahoma for making my day...
"Oklahoma State Senator Constance Johnson, a Democrat, has offered an amendment to the personhood bill pending in the state legislature. The pending bill, if passed, would declare that the unborn child at every stage of development (has) all the rights, privileges, and immunities available to other persons, citizens, and residents of this state.
Johnson writes that the Personhood bill would potentially allow governmental intrusion into families personal lives by policing what happens to a womans eggs without any similar thought to what happens to a mans sperm. Her amendment reads:"

(14,337 posts)because of masturbation, a condom, oral, or anal sex (yes, with a woman)? GOD, according to the Catholic church, says they MUST be conceived. Don't REFUSE his "gifts".

(35,699 posts)Basically each sperm had a little person (Homonculus) inside of it.
Of course there was room for debate as to whether the little person was in the egg or in the sperm. In Biblical times however, without a doubt the thinking would have been that the "man's seed" contained little people. Hence the reason why "Onanism" (jerking off) was such a great sin. Actually in the case of Onan it was not masturbation but coitus interruptus.

(32,609 posts)I just wanted to let her know the rest of the country has noticed. I told the staff member I went out to dinner this past Saturday night and everyone in the group knew about the "Sacred Sperm" amendment.
The staffer was surprised and that is exactly why I called - it is hard to judge reaction from inside the asylum that is the Oklahoma legislature.

(4,079 posts)When I talk to my kids about abortion the eventual question always comes up "but what if they're right?" In other words, "when DO we start to protect people?" I always tell my kids that I don't presume to know the answer to that question, but I do know that when a woman gets pregnant it's HER body that has a dependent organism growing inside her, and HER life is worth at least as much as that organism--if not more since SHE is not dependent on another human to live.
But to the point, I always tell them that if the fundamentalists are so concerned about protecting not just fetuses, but blastosmeres and zygotes, then they can damn well stop flushing their sperm down the toilet. Because who's to say that "life" hasn't already begun before sperm meets egg?
Again, thanks for posting.

(985 posts)"Don't spill the semen!" could be yelled just before a top-heavy bucket of jizz spills out on the game board.

(3,621 posts)According to Aristotle, an acorn has the "potentiality" of becoming an oak tree but it is not "actually" an oak tree.
That is pretty ancient reasoning on the subject and still makes rational sense.
If I fry a fertilized hens egg, it is still an omelet, not fried chicken.
