Cindy Sheehan to perform nude stunt

http://cindysheehanssoapbox.blogspot.com/2013/06/cindy-sheehan-to-perform-nude-hirewire.html

Cindy Sheehan to perform “stunt” near White House.

Beginning on April 4th from the grave of her son Casey in Vacaville, CA, in an action called, Tour de Peace, Peace Mom Cindy Sheehan has recently cycled 3500 miles to the fence of the White House.

Cindy Sheehan and Tour de Peace made numerous stops along the way and were able to reach out to thousands of people to inspire and be inspired by the message of peace and environmental sustainability. Even though Tour de Peace is just one long action in Sheehan’s nine year long commitment to peace and justice, the Tour got no coverage from the national press or media.

To try to do anything to call attention to the Tour de Peace and the thousands of people in solidarity with its demands, Sheehan has announced that she will perform a tightrope ride on her bike while completely nude and noshing on a gluten free-vegan pizza: the high wire will stretch from the tip of the Washington Monument to the statue of Andrew Jackson in Lafayette Park across from the White House.

she's not being covered in the press is that a dem is president. Even before he was elected, Sheehan's coverage had waned to almost nothing.

and yes, I get that this the proposition is a joke.

... that she isn't getting the national media attention that she feels that she so richly deserves.

"I find it interesting that these dedicated acts receive very little national attention (even from "left-wing" media like Democracy, Now) when the press corps literally followed me to the outhouse when I was camped out in Crawford, TX when I was protesting yet another president mired in scandals and dripping with blood and gore.”"

Weird right?

nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize or have lost a child in combat? For that matter, how many who deride her now viewed her as heroic prior to 1/20/09? Bears considering, I'd say.

We Dems used to be known for our empathy, understanding and compassion. Sometimes lately, though, I just want to cringe.

(on the Peace and Freedom ticket here in California). Oh, yes, and her name was actually printed on the ballot alongside Roseanne Barr's (presidential candidate on same party ticket). So one did not need to do a write-in for Sheehan, if one wished to register a protest vote.

If I had lost a child to a war based entirely on lies and fraud and backed by a ton of Dems, I might seem a little 'nutty' too.

Just a thought for the empathy-challenged.

Dear Cindy:

My name is David Allen, and I am the lead administrator of Democratic Underground. Like the vast majority of people here on DU, I was surprised and dismayed to learn of your resignation as the public face of the anti-war movement. Even more upsetting to me is the fact that apparently a post here on my website was one of the reasons for your decision.

I am going to try to keep this note relatively brief. I cannot match the eloquence of your public statement, or the eloquence of the many people on Democratic Underground and elsewhere who have asked you to reconsider. My intent is merely to add my voice to the huge chorus of people who believe you are a vital voice in the anti-war movement. As the administrator of Democratic Underground I would like the opportunity to provide a little bit of context with regard the offending post referenced in your resignation letter. Having read your statement, I know that the post here on DU was not the only reason you made the decision you did, but it seems that that post may have been the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back.

The most important thing I think you should know is this: The vast majority of DU members support you and your efforts to bring an end to this terrible war. That has been true for as long as you have been fighting to end it -- as you know from the many DUers who stood with you at Camp Casey and elsewhere. It remains true today.

I understand how frustrating it is to give your heart and soul to something, and then get personally insulted for it. It is even worse when those insults come from people who are supposed to be our friends and allies. I am not going to provide an excuse or justification for that ugly post -- the person who posted it does not in any way speak for me or most of people on this website. But I am also not going to lie to you and tell you that it was posted by a troll. As far as I can tell, the person who posted it is a legitimate member of this site. (As an aside, the specific language used was not acceptable under the rules of this website, and the post in question was deleted by the moderators for that reason.)

At age 25 you are no longer allowed to do nude stunts. Also, one child and you are also banned. This is to ensure that the public begins to view nudity in a positive way.

They won't visit the link, and will actually thing that Ms. Sheehan is going to ride a tightrope nude, despite the ridiculousness of a tightrope from the Washington Monument to some statue. That is the level of gullibility that is often seen. It's very sad.
