Denver District Court Judge Anne Mansfield sentenced anti-tax crusader Douglas Bruce to a 180-day jail term to be followed by six years of strictly supervised economic probation this afternoon on tax evasion charges.
Mansfield said Bruce's age, 62, the type of crime he committed and his lack of criminal history outweighed his behavior at trial, which gave her pause.
"It was apparent during the trial itself, the defendant had absolutely no regard for the rule of law. His behavior during the trial was reprehensible," Mansfield said. "His behavior is used to gauge his likelihood of success on probation. It requires abiding by strict rules. I have serious reservations Bruce can be successful."
Bruce will have to turn himself into Mansfield's courtroom on Friday to begin the 180-day jail term.

(685 posts)How about a fine and some jail time? How many amendments do we have to look forward to being on the ballot this November because this teabagger is out walking the streets?

(113,490 posts)enough, in my view. I am waiting for the day we have heard the last of this arrogant, ignorant, rude, self-absorbed blowhard.
I am surprised he finally retained an attorney--usually, it is taxpayer money he prefers to have spent, witness the many thousands of dollars we have had to fork over defending against his idiot suits.
going to throw up now--just read one of the local news station blurbs, which referred to dougie as "the most influential person in CO history"

(39 posts)He got off easy.
But 6 years of probation means that any violations of probation, no matter how trivial, he's heading back to prison to serve it for another 6 years.
I hope he's sent to the worst prison here in Colorado, though I haven't figured out which one it is, yet.
Maybe Denver County Jail for the period of 6 months - the Smith Road location, not the new downtown one.
