GMO crops set ablaze...

Though the controlled corporate media apparatus is suppressing the story, 40 tons of GMO crops were torched, prompting an FBI investigation. There has been a COMPLETE MEDIA BLACKOUT, outside of local circles has dared to mention it, perhaps because government fears that if the public learns that other people are getting fighting mad (literally), they might join in, and become an actual revolution. It was only reported locally live on KXL Radio and echoed by the Oregonian, where the ONLY web mention exists, hard to find because the headline wording is carefully avoids the most likely keywords for a search.

Here’s what happened — 40 Tons of GMO Sugar Beets were set ablaze in Eastern Oregon, yesterday. FORTY TONS — the entire acreage of two full fields of crops IN THE GROUND were set ablaze over a THREE NIGHT PERIOD OF TIME. That means ARSON.

Evidence is that 6,500 plants were destroyed BY HAND, ONE PLANT AT A TIME. That, in turn, implies A LOT OF PEOPLE were involved: would you want to stick around once a fire was going and wait to be discovered? No, someone (many someones) probably wanted to move as quickly as possible. WE ARE TALKING ABOUT A MOVEMENT, a kind of ORGANIZED REVOLT — and this is exactly the kind of retribution that many have warned was coming; when lawmakers and corporations refuse to honor the Constitution and instead engage in ‘legalized’ criminal acts such as enabled by the ‘Monsanto Protection Act.’

I've thought at times that it might be the only recourse when the government cuts off all legal options. But then I remember how easy it was for the government to round up members of Earth First! twenty years ago, because that sort of action leaves a lot of evidence.

My best guess now is that we're likely to see more of it, that the Monsanto's and TransCanada's of this world are terrified of it -- but also that the people who do it are likely to wind up with 20-year prison terms.

It'll be interesting to see what happens next.

holding back for your own seeds next season, been done for thousands of years?

If their GMO crop cross-pollinates with yours, you have to pay them for your own crop, instead of them being guilty of trespassing on your property.

You know, when you get people in a corner, few will just curl up and die - they're liable to come right out of there.

I really am not too interested in foreign companies who farm in this country anyway.

In fact, the feds are the ones spreading the news and asking for help solving the crimes.

Genetically engineered sugar beets destroyed in southern Oregon
http://www.oregonlive.com/pacific-northwest-news/index.ssf/2013/06/genetically_engineered_sugar_b.html
By Kimberly A.C. Wilson, The Oregonian on June 20, 2013

Federal investigators are asking the public to help solve middle-of-the-night crimes that left ruined fields of genetically engineered sugar beets in rural Jackson County.

The crop destruction took place over the course of two separate nights in early June, when an unknown individual or group destroyed about 6,500 sugar beet plants genetically engineered to stand up to the herbicide Roundup on a pair of privately-owned plots of land leased and managed by Syngenta.

The first act of what the FBI considers "economic sabotage and a violation of federal law involving damage to commercial agricultural enterprises," took place during the night of June 8, when about 1,000 sugar beet plants on one property were destroyed. Three nights later, the destruction continued on another property, where another 5,500 plants were ruined.

Seems like the people in our government who are beholden to nasty corporations like Monsanto forgot a few things...like someone said upthread, if you leave people backed into a corner, with no way to fight back, not everyone is going to lie down peacefully and let them trample over them.

I think that our collective welfare is more important than the destruction of property. Food is so very basic, and their are huge problems with not just the GMO food itself, but with corporate control over our food supply. This whole business is a huge issue, including foreign companies coming in, buying up local farm land, and taking over the food supply through patent laws, pollution of the ground water, etc. I have had personal experience with being sickened from exposure to Round-up when I worked on a rhododendron farm back in the early eighties.

I am sure agent Mike is listening, but I applaud people standing up for what we stand on. Planet Earth is our most basic sponsor, anyway, not the corporations.
