I gave this man $5000 in 2007 and spent many hours to canvass and phonebank for him.
I gave him another $500 in 2011 and again voted for him.
I bought the boohoo story of those meanie Republicans obatructing everything. I bought the story that we "won" with the ACA passing and broadended gay rights, but had to give up $800 billion of our hard earned money to bank crooks and let them drive away in their Bentleys to their 20 room mansions because he just couldn't do anything about it-- too big to fail. While us peons were left to fall.
They hoard and hide over $32 Trillion of wealth in the Caymans to avoid contributing to the society that helped them enrich themselves and they cry "SOCIALISM" when poor mothers and kids need help to find some modicum of GMO-made, cancer-inducing, diabetes-creating, cancer-causing suppliment food.
It's all a grand game, an act, a nation-sized con job.
There's no Republican or Democrats folks.
Just a giant stage on which a play of deception is played on the American people to believe we still live in a Democracy.
What it really is, is a game of Masters and Serfs.
Those "conspiracy theorists" don't sound so crazy anymore to me. Maybe their name is not "Illuminati", but it seems "they" are really there. In secret board rooms and meeting rooms, conjuring the strategems on how best to extract subservience and resources from the massses.
They get us all crazy about abortion, gay rights, prayer in schools, ACORN, Planned Parenthood, Britney Spears' couchie peeks, Beyonce's side-boobs while they steal, hoard, subvert and leech the lifeblood from the ideals this country was founded on-- a land by the people, for the people. They hit the hot buttons in all of us, liberals and tea baggers alike so we can waste our precious passions and energies in angry food fights about who's moralities are better than whom.

(882 posts). . . and learn that the reports of Obama listening in on your phone calls are exaggerated nonsense. The NSA gets warrants, approved by judges, to do its surveillance. The report that several months of metadata from Verizon was acquired (through the use again of a warrant) does NOT merit a conclusion that your phones are being tapped.
If you're deciding based on reading Greenwald (who has not proffered a single document or corroborating fact for his contentions NSA is reading your emails), that Obama is a Right-winger, then he never really had you to begin with.

(112 posts)Narkos...Ive noticed you are often the first one to advocate for the false notion that Obama is different than Bush. Yes he appears different but the results are the same and actually worse in my opinion because Obama has defused and neutralized any opposition to the 1%'s policies by convincing some that he will eventually change things....I think most intelligent people have abandoned that false hope. The whole thing IS a con, a goodcop vs badcop, right vs left, us vs them game where the rich laugh all the way to the bank. Crying "Alex Jones" every time someone points out the uncomfortable truth is getting tiring and sophomoric. The FACT is this country has gone over edge and we live in a police state where the establishment exists only to protect the interests of the ultra-wealthy. Everyone I know is sick of it and guess what...I do not hang out with any republicans. The recent NSA scandal is a perfect example of the criminality and corruption that has occurred. How can you defend Obama and act like it's a wild-eyed conspiracy theory to postulate about his crimes when we have 2 million people incarcerated in this country for crimes they conspired to commit? Ex NSA analyst Russ Tice who exposed Bush's illegal wiretapping in 2005 said last week that he was ordered to wiretap mostly lawyers and judges and many politicians and journalists too. He specifically named Samuel Alito and even Obama when he was running for senator in 2004. He said this was done to get leverage against these men and it sure would explain Obama's flip flop on the Telecom Immunity Act in 2008. This is what the conversation should be about...Obama, Bush and all the rest of these spineless politicians have plenty of places in the media to push their version of events so I am bemused as to why you insist on defending these team players here.

Their only concern is to protect the corporations at all costs.
It is time to rename this country.
The United States of America is dead.
Long live the United States of Global Corporations.

we only have to look at the rest of it.
"All branches have been infested with corrupt power hungry psychopaths."
Correct diagnosis.
Obama is not going to be able to save us, for whatever reason. And in the end it doesn't matter whether we want to see him as having failed us or not. The point is, he is not our savior.
We can only save ourselves.

I am not singling out President Obama, however, I consider him to be part of the problem, not part of any solutions.
He is doing the bidding of corporations, just like those before him and most likely like those who will follow him.

(19,841 posts)Changed "you" to "we" for clarity --I didn't mean you personally in the previous post.
I agree that Obama's part of the problem, and he's not going to save us. Neither is Congress. I don't play a blame game here--the majority of the government is complicit in this massive cover-up.
We have to save ourselves. And look for representatives who are actively & unequivocally on our side. This is a deal-breaker for me. Any candidate who hems & haws on this surveillance question--

The post is raw hatred of the President to the point where it rejects as relevant all the issues where the President is right. It is also cartoonishly simplistic in effectively stating that Rick Perry would be no different than Barack Obama in terms of the effect on us.

(22,143 posts)The game was lost when the middle class elected their executioner in 1980 by landslide margins. Everything since has just been a continuation of his destructive policies. There was a real opportunity in 2009 to change course but we didn't. Because those that were ostensibly on "our" side didn't want to.

I need to admit that the R's had something right from 2007 about Obama:
Great speech-maker, but no ability to get much done.
He should have been a Baptist preacher or a civil rights activist. He would have done well. President? Not so much.
He's earned his legacy; first bi-racial President. Great moment in history.
Now move the fuck on and let Hillary get shit done.

(98,883 posts)I will tell you, a lot of people who don't have healthcare will appreciate the ACA, even if it isn't the most ideal at the time. The same bullshit was leveled at Medicare when it came out.
You don't think there is a difference between the republicans and Democrats, then some people should pull their head out of their asses. If you think that the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act would have passed under a republican, then you are in another universe. If you think any ACA would have passed under a republican, you are in a different universe.
You minimize the gay rights, women's rights, and other issues, shame on you. Those are significant changes, and there is a lot more that has been done, but since you are on a rant, you don't see, so go to the green party where they believe as you stated there is no difference between the Democrats and the republicans. See how that works for you

(7,602 posts)the f****ing idiot at d'kos is angry that he didn't have enough money to buy Obama.
Since the conspiracy theories sound so good to him, he could open an e-bay store selling stuff like special tin foil. If he made enough money (there seems to be a huge customer base, even on DU) he might actually make enough to buy the government he wants.

maybe we should quite bitch`n and start getting ready to elect democrats to the house and keep control of the senate. the republican in house is shambles and it ours for the taking. or is it easier to sit on our asses and bitch about shit on internet.
