(23,864 posts)FWIW. And the question was asked with that being the reason Snowden didn't board the jet to Cuba (?) earlier.
Jay Carney dodged the question then, on further pestering, started to say something like "We're not going to rule out any options" but got about halfway through the sentence, changed his mind about saying that out loud, and then went on to say he wasn't going to speculate.

(13,257 posts)We've been watching that flight on a flightracking website. It's planned route takes it directly over US airspace. My first thought was that if there was any suspicion Snowden's on that flight, the US would force it down.

(14,626 posts)is more build-up of the military industrial complex and the intelligence (and I use that word loosely) industrial complex.
They do that and I think I will leave the Democratic party. That tells me the Democratic leadership is so crazed in this country to show they have bigger cojones than the Repubicans they will risk war, and more waste on the Pentagon and intelligence. The Democrats are blind with power and just plain stupid and pig-headed.

(3,731 posts)but, unless the pilot agrees to land, what other options does the US have? Shoot it down and become an even more pariah of the world?
My guess is that if we tried that, the pilot would basically say, "fuck off" and continue on their course and dare the US to take any hostile action.

(40,891 posts)The real reason he's not leaving is that Russia, Cuba, Venezuela, Ecuador have worries about facilitating Snowden's escape.

(23,864 posts)Is this administration above causing an international incident which would bring further embarassment onto our country's behavior?
I'd like to think so.

(68,868 posts)he only gets to say what he's been cleared to say. If he's surprised by a question, it's painfully obvious.
He's also not very good at his job.

(14,626 posts)But this administration seems to have a lot invested in proving they are more bad asses than the republicans.
