Fifteen Differences Between Democrats And Republicans

Fifteen Differences Between Democrats And Republicans

I’ve noticed over the years, there are some fundamental differences in the way Republican and Democratic politicians think. Here are just 15 examples.

Republicans fear that the government has too much control over corporations. Democrats fear that corporations have too much control over our government.

Democrats believe it benefits all of us to help the weakest and the poorest among us. Republicans believe it benefits all of us to help the wealthiest and most powerful among us.

Republicans believe large corporations will always do what is best for the American people if the government stays out of the way. Democrats believe large corporations would disembowel you and sell your organs to the highest bidder if the government didn’t stop them.

...to which the differences penetrate the nation's political leadership. For example, democrats may indeed fear corporate control of government-- democrats like you, that is-- but democrats in congress fall all over themselves to court corporate money and influence, and in the process facilitate their accumulation of power over government. Democrats like my neighbors and colleagues might very well believe the "it benefits all of us to help the weakest and the poorest" but the ones in my state assembly and in congress prefer abandoning those folks, who have little political clout, rather than taxing the wealthy to pay for necessary services, because the wealthy have plenty of political power.

So while dems might THINK differently than repubs, in the real world they're screwing us just about as badly, and the differences are pretty thin sauce.

6. I was just reading a thread about Obama's Healthcare Reform--it doesn't match this list.

7. That of course is not comparing conservative Democratic politicians with Republican ones.

Show me a "blue dog" or bi-partisan "Republican lite" Democrat in Congress and the "differences" fade.

Besides, I really don't pay much attention to meaningless election year rhetoric by most rich politicians. What they say the day before the election is soon trashed and forgotten the day after the election.

They use focus groups to figure out how to most effectively "market" their election campaigns and put on the best acting "performance" for likely voters. And of course big corporate and Wall Street funding along with the hiring of skilled Madison Avenue advertising firms can buy you an office in Congress or even four years living at the Presidential CEO executive mansion!
