I don't think it's an overreaction at all.

And I'm interested in seeing what you found to be an embellishment or dramatization. What you said was a pretty offensive broadbrush. It's not unlike the examples the poster provided to you. If I said the same thing about women who work in jobs that pertain typically to men, you can bet your ass that I'd be blasted for it. But if you're fine with misandry, so be it.
