(98,883 posts)The truth is, it was the women vote that won the election in 2012 for the Democrats. There is no way that most women would vote for a party that is as antagonistic as the republicans are toward them.
My view is they are writing their own epitaph.
That does not mean that the Democrats are so wonderful, but it does give them the opportunity to push a lot of progressive issues, that the majority are for. Including Social Security, Medicare, Women's rights, etc.

(40,416 posts)Or if you're from Arkansas, make that a Perdue chicken.
Either way, it's one dead chicken.
And so is TX SB 5.
Thanks to Wendy Davis' awesome marathon performance which unfortunately fell a little short. But thanks to plan G in the back pocket, the Texas Senate Democrats prevailed using parliamentary tactics to keep the filibuster from ending. The gallery supplied their own delaying tactics by raising such a ruckus that the vote on the floor finally came after the Senate session turned into a pumpkin. Of course, the GOP somehow change the vote log to reflect a vote before midnight, but apparently when the modified logs were quickly exposed on the Intertubes for everybody to see, they obviously relented during a late session.
Along the way came some high drama punctuated by one Senator Leticia Van de Putte, who after burying her father joined the session and calmly made a simple parliamentary inquiry that set the gallery on fire:

The GOP never quite got control of them again.
This was beautiful and artful.
