right now the legislature is looking to see if they can overrule his veto - but I think they should just bring it up again and again until Christie is out.

Referendums don't mean anything when it comes to this issue. Prop 8 was a referendum in California, and it was ruled unconstitutional by a lower court--a ruling that has been left standing. The message was: you can't make laws that prohibit same sex marriage.

Unfortunately, it did not go so far as to undo these laws in other states. But theoretically, a suit could be brought it each of these 37 states now, and their laws would be in danger of being ruled unconstitutional.
