When you're on certain internet forums discussing the George Zimmerman case, you get the impression that everything is rosey for the prosecution: Rachel Jeantel is cute instead of a mumbling liar, barely anyone speaks about bad news for the prosecution, etc.
Now let's see what legal analysts in the Orlando area are saying about the latest developments in the case, according to the Orlando Sentinel in its article yesterday which begins like this:'
SENTINEL: The George Zimmerman trial Friday prompted TV's legal analysts to think back to the Casey Anthony case. The comparison was highly unfavorable to the prosecution.http://www.orlandosentinel.com/entertainment/blogs/tv-guy/os-george-zimmerman-casey-anthony-connection-20130628,0,4085554.post?track=rss
Channel 2 analyst Jeff Dean: "he problem was the state didn't have any evidence, and it was starting to show."
***
WKMG-Channel 6 legal analyst Luis Calderon: "the state's witnesses were almost testifying for Zimmerman."
***
Vanessa Braeley, a legal analyst for Central Florida News 13 "Good a good witness for the defense because he was clear and steadfast with his answers." (Good is the last name of one of the witnesses).
***
WKMG's Eric Dubois: Gave Good a B for helping the defense and an F for helping the prosecution.
***
WOFL's Ferwerda summed up: "It's been a great day for the defense on the state's case. It's unusual. It's bizarre."

(12,778 posts)I've never heard any legal analysts who thought that the state had a strong case against Zimmerman, at least not a case for second degree murder.

(10,291 posts)lest we forget that they tried to sweep this entire incident under the rug, and that first state's attorney should be fired for it.

(34,648 posts)Are these the same legal experts that said Casey Anthony would get life? They were wrong then and they're wrong now. They know nothing. They forget about the five mothers on the jury.
Will you be staying long? I enjoy the blatant transparency of your postings. I laugh every time I see another one.
Enjoy!

(208 posts)Or do you expect people to think they did?
You ask me if I'm mad, and I ask you if you're mad that the legal experts did not say what you wanted to hear.

(34,648 posts)I stopped after that trial because I was not surprised at the outcome. I think the legal experts will be surprised.
Enjoy!

(3,829 posts)I've watched both Channels 6 and 2 from Orlando. Their experts say it is a very weak case.
Their analysis of Rachel Jeantel was certainly far better than most of what I read here. In a fair legal system, Rachel Jeantel should never be responsible for sending anyone to prison on serious charges. That would be a travesty of justice.
The case seems very weak as the law is written. We shouldn't allow civilians wandering around with weapons confronting citizens. The dislike of our laws and Zimmerman's actions has biased many to the actual events that day and in the trial.
I think Zimmerman is morally responsible for TM's death but legally, perhaps not. Maybe more will come out in the trial. Perhaps they can get Zimmerman on manslaughter, or something.
