http://rt.com/usa/clapper-lying-senate-nsa-568/US director of national intelligence James Clapper has sent a letter to senators in which he apologizes for providing erroneous information on NSA data collection, but the director is still under scrutiny for his inconsistent statements.
In late June, Clapper wrote a letter to the Senate Intelligence Committee to correct his response to a question he was asked during a March 12 hearing. When asked by Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) whether the National Security Agency collected data on millions of Americans, Clapper lied to Congress and said the NSA does not do this.
No, sir, not wittingly. There are cases where they could inadvertently, perhaps, collect, but not wittingly, he said in March. But after NSA leaker Edward Snowden revealed the NSAs controversial surveillance programs in June, Clapper told NBC News that he gave the least untruthful answer possible at the hearing, and said the question he was asked was unfair. He said it was akin to being asked when he was going to stop beating his wife.
But now the national intelligence director is telling another story. In a failed attempt to minimize criticism against him, Clapper sent a letter to the Senate Intelligence Committee on June 21, stating that his response was clearly erroneous for which I apologize. He claims that he misunderstood the original question.

(794 posts)Is there a less antiAmerican news blog you can find this story on? Did you choose this particular "news" outlet for a reason other than informational?
.
This is a just question given that RT is the web-based outreach organization for Russian political propoganda.

Russian and Iranian state television are delighted to tell exactly the truth when it embarrasses the US. They don't have to lie when the truth works just as well. And you'd trust US media for the truth?

Perhaps you trust the police as well?

(62,325 posts)referring to the totally anti-American Corporate Media where lies about war and mushroom clouds, and war criminals are treated like gods? Probably not.
RT is one of the best News Organizations available in the US today, one of the bright lights that consistently covers actual news rather than the propaganda we get on our media. It has an increasingly growing US audience due to the fact that we have so little in the way of news and people are looking for real news here.
But back to the topic, Clapper lied, now he admits it. But Clapper was a CEO of one of those multi-billion dollar Security Corporations who somehow made the transition directly into our Government as Director of Intelligence. As if he had no conflict of interest at all, we are supposed to think.
His major employers main purpose is not the rights of the American people, it is PROFIT and they only way they keep those billions of dollars flowing, is to keep the WOT going and to have someone on their side when the funds are being requested. Spying on the American people is probably a big job, lots of money in involved, I imagine.
Clapper, where are his loyalties, with the Corp his friend Bush was so close to, which pays him so much for his 'work', or with the American people?
I guess I don't trust CEOs of multi billion dollar corporations in our government, in positions directly related to the business they are loyal to.

In principal, the USA is a just and fair system, an ideal that is far from the facts of reality.
