With all the Republican talk of religious freedom, Did not God give us all Free Will?.

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by hootinholler (a host of the General Discussion forum).

That is what I was taught . We all have free will, and will be judged by our personal actions and not by what others do. Judge not Republicans, yest thee be judged.

Remember, keep the believers ignorant, brainwashed and most of all, in line.

The Fundamentalists believe in free will to a point. They can choose to save their own souls via being "reborn" and accepting Christ as their Savior. This negates their curse of Original Sin that they were born with.

However, they are hellbent on saving the rest of us (or enacting restrictive religious laws) because they also believe those who are unsaved will invite the wrath of God upon the Earth, sweeping them up in the damnation. A contradiction? Yep. They're saved but we can ruin it for them by following our secular, hedonistic choices.

If deciding to believe were an act of free will, then salvation would be reduced to the individual's act of making that decision. That is why Calvinists reject free will in that context in favor of predestination.
