Because having Michelle Obama as VP, will insure that Rush Limbaugh and republican party does not play all the games they have played attempting to GOTCHA the president since day one of his inauguration, and wanting to impeach him like Daryl Isaa keeps trying to do. If they know Michelle Obama is the VP, the last thing republicans would want to do is impeach Hillary and have Michelle Obama take over that quickly. Can you imagine the look on Rush Limbaugh's face 1-17-2017?
(note, I could list 1000 reasons other than that and 1000 more why Michelle Obama should be President in 2024, but that is for another time, and would take more than the one paragraph above. And remember, Dwight Eisenhower never ran nor won anything prior to being President, so prior elective office for either the Presidency or VP is not a requirement.)

(16,974 posts)Qualified, yes very much. We have over 300 million in this country and I do not think it should be only a couple of families that are presidents. We need someone with a different background.

(535 posts)Clinton will not be the nominee in 2016. And you're *STILL* jumping the gun by foisting us on Hillary who would turn to her late 70s by the time she is inaugurated.
I'd rather have someone who's younger, more progressive (Clinton is still DLC/Third wayer, no matter how you define it) and more in tune with the people who wants the direction to go THAT WAY, instead of continuing the same tired old pattern that has no real future except for the 1%'ers who continue to siphon off us.
Plus, you still have to consider her health issues. I don't think she will be willing to run if she is still in recovery.
Do me a favor, Graham, and LAY OFF the Clinton foisting off until the presidential season gets underway (shortly after '14) so you are not disappointed.
Also, this ain't a monarchy. Get with the program, sir.

Have I missed something? What health problems and what recovery are you referring to?

(5,075 posts)She should be over that now, and if she isn't then she really has some more serious problem that is preventing normal healing or she was injured more than I heard about.

(11,464 posts)SCOTUS is the job President Obama was born to be in, and there was another President who became a justice after his term
in office.
President Obama would be younger in 2018, than I believe 6 or 7 of the 9 justices are today.
and President Obama has always been a constitutional scholar.
Thurgood Marshall's seat has for far too long remain unfilled. (the one who supposedly filled that seat is of course not a worthy replacement(the dreaded Clarence Thomas who just took away voting rights).

And that's why I love her and him.
They are so opposite in this way and work so well together.
There are plenty of qualified people that don't have the Bush, Clinton or Obama name.
Well put.
Michelle never wanted to be in politics in the first place, unlike Hillary who was born to run but let her husband go first.
Michelle has filled the role of political wife with grace and intelligence, but I'm sure the very idea of running for prez herself makes her break out in hives.

(3,626 posts)in large part because I think she is qualified and I think she has the best shot for winning as a woman which is another barrier I think needs to go down.
Having said that, it's time for new blood after that, no more dynasties.

I'll abstain before I become an enabler of Obama II.

(22,143 posts)This is absurd, absolutely absurd. Michelle Obama isn't qualified to be dog catcher let alone President. She's a nice First Lady and all, don't get me wrong, but this talk of her being VP or President is ridiculous.
Hillary Clinton is absolutely qualified to be President but anyone that gives fuck one about American jobs and the middle class should never vote for her. She's just another Reaganite, the same as every President that came after him.
We need an FDR type again, not more corporatist sellouts.
CakeGrrl
(10,611 posts)So, a Princeton and Harvard-educated lawyer and wife of the POTUS couldn't be dog catcher.
Compared to Hillary's credentials when she ran for Senate, which were...?
Noted.
MrSlayer
(22,143 posts)Hillary was Bill's co-everything throughout his career and was political her whole life. She was his co-governor and co-President unlike Mrs. Obama who isn't involved in policy at all. Hillary knew the ins and outs of the Senate and was eminently qualified to be a member of that body. She was Secretary of State. Michelle Obama has been nothing of the sort.
You can like her all you want but she's never held any office at all let alone one of significance and putting her on a national ticket would be a disaster and a farce.
And with all qualification issues aside neither of these people should be allowed anywhere near the levers of power for the reasons I mentioned before.
There are more than two families in this country and it's time for a real progressive to get a shot. Next you'll be saying Chelsea Clinton should be President after Michelle is for eight years. And then The oldest Obama daughter in 2040.
Give me a break.
CakeGrrl
(10,611 posts)but I just don't get with the general idea that FLOTUS is so very far removed from the potential of holding some public office.
VP? No, I agree that she wouldn't be there yet.
But she'd be light-years ahead of some of the winners in the GOP Congress if she were so inclined.

(22,308 posts)That is your reason to have someone one heartbeat from the Presidency?
I don't think that being First Lady qualifies someone to be President. We have plenty of qualified people for both offices. There is no good reason to go there, not even Rush Limbaugh's face.

If we are looking for an insurance policy for VP then I think we can find better than Michelle Obama surrounded by Clinton hacks, neolibs her husband dug up, and shitloads of the best and brightest of the horrid and dim TeaPubliKlan galaxy. Give them Maddow, Jessie, Jackson-Lee, Grayson, Brown, or Warren to chew on as an alternative.
