the modern gop (along with a few "democrats&quot has demonstrated that a Jobs Bill, while strategically a great move, would be putting the cart before the horse.

When/if Democrats flip the House and gain a net 4 in the Senate, we will see a vigorous Jobs Bill, forceful climate change legislation, and a lot of the other things that liberals seek ... including congressional action on this NSA thing (though I doubt, nor does THIS Democratic liberal want, the NSA to go away).

But/And we can be pretty share that if we DO NOT flip the House and at least hold what we have in the Senate, we will get NONE of what liberals want.

But then again ... maybe failing to flip the House and hold the Senate will give what many of our newer DU folks what they seem to REALLY want; a complete loss of confidence in, and break-down of government that will "clear the way for and give rise to the glorious progressive utopia!!!!"

The type of straw man that 3.14 was using about the so-called "police state" I would typically hear from libertarians and Paulbots. There's that, and how folks on this site call you either a "sheep" or an "authoritarian" now if you are a Snowden detractor. It is just incredible how supposed-Democrats would take the word of some random 29 year old Ron Paul supporter about spying and tracking over a President from their own party, nevertheless refuse to lay the blame on Congress for repeatedly approving the Patriot Act.

What is infinitely more important is where do you stand on the state, in this instance the NSA, spying on its citizens?

The name of Assange, Manning, Wiki leaks, Anonymous or Snowden does not matter. Where you stand on surveillance of a population in a Democracy does.

Everyday is so wonderful, then suddenly, its hard to breathe
Now and then I get insecure, from all the pain
Im so ashamed

I am beautiful no matter what they say
Words cant bring me down
I am beautiful in every single way
Yes words cant bring me down
So dont you bring me down today

To all your friends youre delirious
So consumed in all your doom
Trying hard to fill the emptiness, the pieces gone
Left the puzzle undone, is that the way it is

You are beautiful no matter what they say
Words cant bring you down
Cause you are beautiful in every single way
Yes words cant bring you down
So dont you bring me down today

No matter what we do
No matter what we say
Were the song inside the tune, full of beautiful mistakes
And everywhere we go, the sun will always shine
And tomorrow we might awake on the other side

Cause we are beautiful no matter what they say
Yes words wont bring us down, no
We are beautiful in every single way
Yes words cant bring us down
So dont you bring me down today

I was being trained by corporate trainers to be the corporate trainer in a new area
big place high volume busy busy
the boss or GM decided he didn't like me for some unknown reason and was making my life miserable
this song came on the radio and I started singing along while we were knocking out a big dinner push
the GM stood in the pass and watched the food fly out looking for anything to ass about and I sang a little louder
then the little rasta girl working the broiler started singing and the guy on the fryers started singing
when she got to the last part we had six people singing this and we were singing it laughing at ourselves for the giant ffffffuuuuuuckkkkk you! we were handing out
we got to the end and you could hear the silence in the dining room
and then they erupted in applause
I don't know why they liked it
none of us were singers and none of us did the words justice
after that whenever that GM was an ass you would hear
one cook to another singing
quiet on the line when someone had been jumped
"you are beautiful no matter what they say.."

his asylum to Venezuela is some sort of black mark on our government.

The man who released information because he was disgusted by the repressive regime of the US has high-tailed it to China, Russia (neither of which wanted anything to do with him) and is entirely likely to be embraced within the warm bosom of Venezuela, a country that every human rights organization in existence has a dossier on the size of damn Venezuela.

I mean, if that doesn't give you a very firm idea of the quality and intellectual capacity of the man's fan club, I don't know what will. And his fans are one reason so many are either ambivalent about him or in growing numbers, are opposed to what he's done.

I almost lost my breakfast over the stupidest post I've seen in what has to be months from a poster actually quoting MLK in order to pretend that the government is keeping people from dissenting.

As deranged as GD is right now and has been for weeks, I was fully expecting a thread full of high-fives and "yeah, girl! That's like, SOOOO true!1" but there were quite a few people that were as disgusted and put off by the comparison as I was including one who asked if the OP was unaware of a covert news channel with millions and millions of viewers that does nothing but slam and criticize this president and this administration day in and day out. The rec count didn't even hit the obligatory 220+ that the most eye-rollingly absurd posts around here seem to be getting lately.

And you're right, it IS childish. And ludicrous. And any thinking person would be embarrassed to be aligned with people so devoid of anything resembling common sense and basic understanding.

Opportunities for ABUSE abound! And, ABUSE has taken place. We should be thankful to Edward Snowden for showing us how far the reach has gone and the opportunities for Blackmail and Fraud are right out there. If we don't stop it now...it will devour us.

I'm pretty tired or reading posts venerating a huge unknown. It would appear true heros are too easy to come by. One doesn't even have to do anything heroic any more. The continued posting of the melodramatic interpretations and heresay will create something that didn't exist. That's why I quit reading anything that smacks of Snowden. I have to ask, how is it that a single person would have the time to post 140,000+ messages here since 2004 (on average more than 40 posts each day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, no holidays) has the time to have a life?
What individual would have the time and resources to do something like that?
And now she runs interference for the NSA.
I may be paranoid, and I only have a few hundred posts since 2006, but this, and other NonSense, is a valid question. Really, how many people would have to operate a profile in order to achieve numbers like that?

I have to admit it reminds me of a good novel and I have found it fairly interesting. I have been flat on my back for a week with strep throat and bronchitis and it has kept me well entertained.

At the end of the day though it is the spying on citizens that matters to me no matter what admin is doing it. I hope Pres Obama gets out in front of this and helps start the conversation. I hope there is a huge international conversation and national conversation about it and where we want to end up as a nation .

cannot respectfully criticize our representatives without endangering the next election is a fallacy created by the RW media to divide us.

We ARE fully capable of addressing corporate rule while making sure we vote Democratic, because this is what we have to do.

There is someone out there convincing Democrats that any move to the left means we will come 'full circle' around to become Libertarian Republicans (because they don't know what a civil libertarian is...)

The purpose of this is to destroy any move BACK to the left where this party (and country) originated, and attempt to derail the discussion about NSA spying. What a propaganda mind job!!!!
