"Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of

heaven."

Status quo authoritarians arrested and severely punished the activist who said this.

He was accused of breaking the law, specifically, of committing the crime of sedition.

He broke the law. Were the authorities justified in severely punishing this man?

Just a kind of philosophical debate question.
