SFPD may simple be helping the airport count noses. Of course, I could be wrong.

BTW, I don't find anything particularly nefarious about him being pulled away like that but if you watch the video it appears that the police intentionally extend out to get closer to him (notice the cop who is quite close, arms folded, who is trying not to make it look like he's looking at the kid but is), that goes on for a moment or two, then the cop who pulls him off does so at the direction of the lady in the United shirt. Looks like she might have also been on the phone until just before asking the officer to wrangle the young man.

I'm not judging or interpreting what the reason was, or the intent. On viewing it 2-3 times, though, I thought it was interesting how everything transpired.
