And fuck those chicken shits that are willing to keep it going for the rest of our lives.
And fuck those lily-livered cowards that are willing to give away everything in the name of safety and security.
Fuck 'em.
They piss me off.

I have a hard time believing the American Imperialists will go gently into that good night.

(4,906 posts)its painful to even think about. When I heard obamas surge speech in 2009, and that word over and over, I knew. I watched it right here on du and it was a pivotal moment for me. I knew to the core of my being that my hope for change was a lie. I sat here with my jaw dropped to the floor knowing I had been had and that terror terror terror would be a forever reason to wreak havoc and profit. Since then our number one industry is defense. It breaks my heart.

(1,881 posts)I just made all the bad people disappear with a wave of my magic wand. Religion is gone. Hackers have been wiped out. No one has any ill will against opposing views. Money is no longer an issue. No need for security anymore because now we're all just one, big happy family.
Boy, that was easy. Don't know why I didn't do this earlier.

(190 posts)that's the brilliance about The War on the Noun, it's ever expanding and all encompassing and never-ending you see because there's always bad people out there you know, and they can anywhere and under any rock!
You have to give up some freedoms to keep you safe from people who hate your freedoms!
railsback
(1,881 posts)and assume that hacking is specific only to a certain breed, and there's absolutely no reason to even ponder the possibilities that viruses can be used to wipe out entire networks, or steal gigs of private data. How can people be so stupid to even consider such things? Its never happened before, right?
Yes, seems the BEST option is to go full Libertarian, man! End authority. End the rule of Law. End oversight. All burdening. ALL robbing us of our 'freedoms'. Only then can we be free
to die under the thumbs of the impending oligarchy, who don't have to answer to ANYBODY.

(115,406 posts)A lot of people are getting very wealthy and it has been almost 12 years since 9/11. Many more have died from gun violence and police tasers than from acts of terror.

(108,772 posts)I fear a nut with a semi automatic rifle in a public setting far more than I fear anything al Qaeda could ever dream of. That to me is true terror when you can't trust the person sitting next to you in a public place. And of course our government thinks protecting the second amendment is far more important than the rest of them, especially that pesky fourth one.
