Carter is probably #2 for me.
Sadly he did not get a second term.

(6,956 posts)Reagan's administration negotiated directly with the Iranian hostage takers to delay the release of their American hostages UNTIL AFTER THE 1980 ELECTION!
Nixon did the same thing with the North Vietnamese, prolonging the war instead of letting LBJ's secret negotiations end it in 1968. LBJ knew about the treason and it's on tape LBJ spoke to Everett Dirkson about it. He kept it a secret because America might go berserk knowing their recently elected President Nixon committed treason.
And add Iran-Contra to the list, too.
All of the above is prove-able and not hypothetical. Factual and all that.

(345 posts)of republican treason. There are many, many more and they are growing at an exponential rate.
This country needs a two or more political party system, but the republican party sure as shooting is not one of them. When good governance is paramount, count on the repubs to obstruct and destroy the very things that gave us the reputation of being a pretty good place to live. Not anymore. 2014 is the next chance to find out if voters have been paying attention to something besides faux nooz, Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck and Lord how many others if their ilk.
I count as a blessing that I am a few short years from 80 years old and won't have to put up with their willingness to destroy this country much longer. I mourn the fact that my family, children and grandchildren are heading for a third world future and I can't help them.

People still talk about President Carter as being weak and indecisive. But he was only portrayed as being weak and indecisive by a complicit media, a media influenced by a G H W Bush CIA.
The more things change the more they stay the same.

(2,842 posts)As president he oversaw the first significant deregulation of vital services and filled his cabinent with very conservative people. He was not a good president and got primaried(I got to vote for Jesse Jackson again).
He was an honest decent man even when president but his policies were not what the country needed in the main. That the country needed an honest and moral person after Nixon and Ford is true and he fulfilled that - I wish he had been more for the wage earners and less for he rentiers.

You are of course entitled to your opinion. President Carter is dearly
loved and respected. Few have come after his presidency that could
dream of standing in his shoes. Had we listened to his dire warnings of
the future waiting for us if we continued to squander our resources
what a different world it would be.

(7,309 posts)... and nothing Carter has said can be misconstrued as anti-semitic. I say this as a Jew. Suggesting that the Occupied Territories, where two separate systems of justice are applied based on ethnic and religious background, represent apartheid, is not anti-semitic, no matter how much the "fringe" want to say so.

(7,309 posts)Alan Dershowitz is highly biased and a proponent of torture.
I can provide a debate of Norman Finkelstein vs. Alan Dershowitz as a source, as well. And though Finkelstein can be considered biased, he does have facts on his side. Alan Dershowitz was caught plagiarizing another massive fraud, Joan Peters, who fabricated the "From Time Immemorial" who is now widely discredited. Alan lifted so much material from her fraud, that the ellipses are exact copies.
So, you still haven't provided Carter's "own words." I'm interested in what these "words" are, but yet, after several attempts, you seem incapable of providing them.
You haven't proved your point at all, and in fact, seem to be doing your argument a disfavor by linking Alan Dershowitz into this.
Edit to add: So now, is it your new argument that it isn't Jimmy Carter's "own words" but Alan Dershowitz's "own words" that you wish to present? If so, you still fail to prove anything.

At one point, I really hoped Ted Kennedy would get the nomination, but Republicans nipped that in the bud even while Reagan made back door deals with the Iranians.
But the day Reagan was elected was, in my opinion, one of America's darkest days in my lifetime. Almost as bad as losing JFK.
