2. Yesterday, someone started a thread to ask

if this current period is reminiscent of the sixties. Things like this put me more in mind of Germany ca. 1938. How far are we, really, from an event that rivals Kristallnacht, but instead of Jewish neighborhoods, it's Hispanic neighborhoods that are targeted? If these people had a truly charismatic leader around whom they could rally, we'd already be neck-deep in carnage.

3. My recollection of the sixties is that we could still talk

and many of those supporting the war actually had partially open minds. It was always interesting to see some slowly change.
But we all shared common news and facts - something that is not happening now.
