17 year old boy gunned down
I can't wait for the wall to wall coverage and discussion of this event and subsequent trial.
1 Dead, 4 Hurt in Shooting at Teen Girl's Birthday Party ![]() A day of celebration turned to a night of chaos for a teenage girl and her friends and family. Police say a teenage boy is dead and four others injured after a shooting broke out during a birthday party for a 15-year-old girl in Hamilton Township, New Jersey.
A party with up to 100 people was taking place inside a home on the 1100 block of Deutz Avenue. Around 11:20 p.m., a gunman opened fire inside the living room area of the house. Shakir Williams, 17, of Trenton, was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene. Police also say a 16-year-old boy, 18-year-old boy and two 17-year-old boys were all struck and injured in the shooting. Police say one of the survivors suffered a gunshot wound to the calf and was treated and released from the hospital. Another victim was struck in the torso, arm, leg and groin and is currently undergoing surgery. The other two victims were struck in the legs and are both currently in stable condition. I'll wager the news trucks and anchors are racing to the scene as I type. http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/local/1-Dead-4-Hurt-in-Shooting-at-Teen-Girls-Birthday-Party-215364471.html#comments

1. Welcome to DU
Teenagers are killed all the time. Does context and the circumstances of the crime mean anything to you?

2. Note, Sir, Police Are Looking To Arrest Someone
What drew attention to the murder of Mr. Martin was that the man who killed him was not arrested, but rather treated as a sort of junior colleague by a local police department with a record of civil rights violations.

4. I hope the media does cover this
as it relates to gun violence. It is a story too often repeated in our country. BTW this is nothing like the Zimmerman case.

8. Always a tragedy when a young life is taken.
I hope the police investigate, find a suspect or suspects and bring them to justice.
I guess you're with me in believing we need stricter gun legislation to keep guns out of the hands of criminals. ![]() |

10. Because they have an agenda
That has nothing to do with young victims of gun violence.
