"SPIEGEL has decided not to publish details it has seen about secret operations that could endanger the lives of NSA workers."

So basically this guy is now betraying US agents in the field by giving their names to foreign entities. And he is cloaking all of this with concern for the privacy of American citizens. Wow, he just keeps on adding to his list of crimes. He has pretty much assured that he will spend the rest of his life in a federal supermax prison.

(12,482 posts)SPIEGEL has decided not to publish details it has seen about secret operations that could endanger the lives of NSA workers. Nor is it publishing the related internal code words. However, this does not apply to information about the general surveillance of communications. They don't endanger any human lives -- they simply describe a system whose dimensions go beyond the imaginable. This kind of global debate is actually precisely what Snowden intended and what motivated his breach of secrecy. "The public needs to decide whether these policies are right or wrong," he says.

(30,439 posts)This is an interesting take. Is it your opinion that the United States should not engage in spying overseas?

(30,439 posts)What should the US about that? Pull all spies from overseas and hope other countries do the same thing?

(12,482 posts)by releasing secret information that he stole. I think that makes him a traitor to his country. Releasing the FISA court document on domestic phone metadata is much easier to defend. But his little "global debate" is precisely why he needs to be brought to justice.

(12,482 posts)how do you feel about him endangering the lives of NSA employees?
hootinholler
(26,449 posts)Neither did you, but you have convicted him in your mind and are cherry picking stuff to attack him.
I prefer reality based outrage, isn't that enough for you?

(12,482 posts)Do you also dismiss the rest of the story, about the massive US spying? Or are you cherrypicking yourself.
