I Haven't Seen Much Discussion Here On DU About Reid & The Filibuster......

I briefly heard McConnell say that if Reid messes with this - Reid would be the worst Senate Majority Leader ever. I know that Reid was only contemplating only one aspect of the filibuster rule and I think that had to do with Executive appointees. But if Reid is going to get the distinction of being the worst Senate Majority Leader ever - why stop at that? He might as well go all the way and employ the nuclear option on all aspects of the Senate and let the chips fall where they may.

I really believe if the shoe was on the other foot that the Repugs wouldn't hesitate. I think McConnell and the Repugs are shuttering in their boots and are trying their hardest to make Reid back down through their rhetoric.

What is the thought here as to what will happen?

Will Reid wimp out again or will he go for it?

I'll believe it when I see it.

If it actually happens, it will only be for appointments anyway, not a full-out nuke option.

with all the crying and complaining going on on the Left, demoralizing a base that needs bells and whistles to turn out in force, its probably not a good idea now.

but there have been threads. It's one of the serious issues that are still being discussed on DU, but it can be hard to find the threads, since everything is scrolling down so fast, due to the dozens of OPs on those two other issues. They're also important, but everyone seems to have a need to post an OP on them.

If anyone who might read this knows Senator Harry Reid, please tell him.
Sir
We the members of the democratic party and/or its dedicated supporters respectfully ask if you might grow a pair. Even if they have pictures of someone important to you dating farm animals, that small issue is eclipsed by this larger one. The continued abuse by the right is severely damaging the country we all love. We have the strength and the right. Light them up. Just think of what Yurtle the turtle's face will look like. That should cheer you up, it does me.
All kidding aside, we don't have to stand tall. We do have to stand up.

Perhaps people are sick of hearing his threats. I know I am. After four years of seeing the Republicans filibuster, block, stall, and everything else they could do to prevent President Obama and the Democrats from getting anything done, Reid was being an idiot when he made his gentleman's agreement with McConnell at the first of the year.

Reid needs to quit apologizing, threatening, and talking about it and just do it. The country needs HELP. Many Americans are hurting. This isn't a game, they're screwing around with people's lives, many are in life or death situations. It's time to get moving.

The Republicans either need to jump on board, get out of the way, or get run over. I don't really care which.
