hate radio's John and Ken suspended for calling Whitney Houston a "Crack Ho"

John and Ken's Racist Radio and Whitney Houston

I couldn't have been more jubilant at hearing that a local Los Angeles afternoon drive radio talk show duo had been suspended for their comments after the death of Whitney Houston. Oh joy. Finally someone was taking action against the misanthropic and racist monologue of John Kobylt and Ken Champioux, two freaks who are as hard to digest as their last names are hard to pronounce.
----------------------------------------------------

They had all the rancor and reflexive hostility of Stern, but without Stern's timing and talent. The raucous John Kobylt was tempered by the innocuously sedate Ken Champioux. John's Howard to Ken's Robin created a flat-footed pas de deux that tugged at the heartstrings of every closeted racist and fascist-in-training -- no matter where in the Southland that they lived.

Their act was anything but original. They parroted the pathos and politics of Rush Limbaugh and delivered it with all the nuance of two badgers on acid.

---------------

Witness the birth of hate radio.

Hate radio has never been more rabid, and these guys do it well. The years have amped up the pitch of their voices. They used to shill copper piping and Pajama-Grams, now they chicane for those brave neocons and Tea Baggers who are against compassionate immigration policies, migrant workers, and school lunch plans.

They take their playbook from hate mongers and kneel in the shadow of guys like Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly and David Duke. They latch onto someone they disagree with and don't let go until they've ruined their career, no matter how salient the opposite point might be. Great stuff if you're a serial killer, border patrol agent, or radio ad salesperson.

I guess it kinda depends. I don't listen to any talk radio here in L.A. except the station that used to be known as the Air America station. It features Stephanie Miller, Thom Hartmann, and Randi Rhodes. John and Ken are just so full of anger and meanness and hate all the time - YECCCHH! - you can't listen to all that bile and vituperation without it getting to you and giving you ulcers!

They'll probably be back in a week or so. They have too big a following. Two big meanies on the radio followed by hundreds of thousands of little meanies who like the idea of some smart-ass radio bullies articulating their rage for them.

Suspending pieces of garbage like these two amounts to very little. The wear it like a badge of honor and then play the victim after they are back. They should be fired, outright.
How does shit like that stay on the air anyway? How come the public airwaves are now used as the lunatic right's personal toilet?

I live in LA. I'm actually in downtown right now. But sure John & Ken are douchebags. And their comment was completely insensitive I know. But Rush Limbaugh says far worse shit on a daily basis and he gets away with it! He's never been suspended over the asinine, racist, and downright hateful things he says. If we John & Ken off the air for a couple weeks, we should be kicking the Limbaughs and Hannitys of the world off on a weekly basis as well.

You're 100% right. It's always the small fish that pay the price, while the Hannitys and limbaughs get off scott free

and people have worked to get Rush's advertisers to drop him. Some have. John & Ken fly unde the radar. Cities have them ride in their parades as grand marshalls!!! That Aryes hotel sponsors them.

This is what hate radio thrives on...controversy. Without it no one knows who these palookas are or would listen to their fea-bitten bile spewer. As another poster mentioned above, these shitstains will now play victim and their station will pretend it is being "responsible"...once the wrist is slapped then its back to your normal hate already in progress.

Radio is in its dying days...fewer and fewer people are listening and stations are desparate to get any type of attenion.
