Time for me to leave DU. Its been fun for the most part, but double standards are bringing me down.
I sincerely wish all of you the best of luck - keep up the good fight. I just don't have it in me to fight on two fronts.

Seriously, do reconsider. Don't let the few who live for the drama affect you.

(298 posts)care of me. Each has serious health problems of their own - with no insurance. And on and on........
It was the way I was attacked - I was dissing on Mitch Daniels from personal experience. And get trashed for being a Republican back in the early 70's. Got smart and left the GOP, but I guess in some views if one was once a Republican you are permanently tainted and still a shill for the GOP. Oh well...................
I'll read DU for the info, but I'm done posting - except for this thread.

(10,044 posts)Times are not good for many people and most of us wish things in our lifle were better. Smart remarks from posters is one of the things any one can do without. When things are getting you down, stop in and get caught up on what you missed in the news.
You probably already know, but I think there's payments to caretakers who must stay home.

napoleon_in_rags
(3,992 posts)DU is important in that sense, as a means to an end, but not as an end. A lot of people seem to get really emotionally invested though, like it is an end. I've seen this in many posts that have been alerted to jury: people have gotten too invested, stopped having fun and using it as a source of direction rather than an end in itself.

(298 posts)I worked with Mitch the Bitch Daniels on Richard Lugar's first senate run. I was a Republican when
there was at least a small amount of integrity in the GOP. Daniels suffers from an acute case of small man syndrome. Everything he did was for his own benefit. Back then, very few people could stand him. He wrapped himself in the flag and wore his Christianity on his sleeve. He has no moral compass, guided only by his desire to rule over and suppress those who oppose him. Nothing he does surprises me.
Just another reason I hate living in Indiana.
This is what I got in return -
when has there been a small amt of integrity in the GOP?
Indiana Republicans are some of the most backward ass idiots in this nation.
They make the state SUCK - and, honestly, you were on board with this? You have long been part of the problem, you know?
Maybe you mean back when Howard Baker was part of the Watergate hearings? Because, as far as I know, that's the last time a Republican has done something that doesn't involve being a whore to their corporate owners.
This was my response that was banned-
Hold on there Dawg. I was in my early 20's and had been raised by a RW bigoted family. The whole
Richard Nixon shit is what made me realize the GOP was not the party for me. Your attitude pisses me off. Would you be happier if I didn't see the errors of my way. Then you could hate and rag on me all you want. I view your statement as a personal attack. You know nothing about me and the social services work and volunteering I have done. So FUCK you.

"sorry I have to go" is not part of the Beatles' song "Hello, Goodbye."
Rex
(65,616 posts)And then I posted a song, what is the big mystery here?
H2O Man
(79,051 posts)was an album and low-quality film. I preferred Sgt. Pepper.
And The Beatles (aka White Album).
I do understand why one might feel disappointed and/or frustrated with most of DU these days. I don't think the OP was written as an attempt to get a chorus of "oh, please stay." I could be wrong, of course. Maybe that is a topic that is worthy of a serious discussion, because we should all want good people to hang out on DU from time to time.
Revolution/ Hey, Jude" was probably my favorite single/45.
Rex
(65,616 posts)Well you know how those lyrics are SO telling someone to piss off etc! NOT.
I think the knee jerking around here is about as bad as it ever is. I can see why this guy is leaving. No one actually talks to each other anymore. We all just hate and hate like it is a game show.
Everyone is angry.
However...everything is going to be all right. Right?
Revolution
You say you want a revolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
You tell me that it's evolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know that you can count me out
Don't you know it's gonna be all right
All right, all right
You say you got a real solution
Well, you know
We'd all love to see the plan
You ask me for a contribution
Well, you know
We're doing what we can
But when you want money
For people with minds that hate
All I can tell is brother you have to wait
Don't you know it's gonna be all right
All right, all right
Ah
Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah...
You say you'll change the constitution
Well, you know
We all want to change your head
You tell me it's the institution
Well, you know
You better free you mind instead
But if you go carrying pictures of chairman Mao
You ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow
Don't you know it's gonna be all right
All right, all right
All right, all right, all right
All right, all right, all right
I watched some old film of the Beatles playing on the roof-top. Not "Revolution," of course, but John's "Don't Let Me Down" is so good!
Perhaps we can utterly hi-jack this thread, and transform it into an upbeat discussion of The Beatles. I'll be glad to participate in that!
My "second favorite" group was the Plastic Ono Band. I enjoy playing my collection of POB very loud on hot summer's days, such as today. I am convinced that if more people listened to the Beatles and POB more frequently, society would benefit.
Please don't tell anyone, I also loved the BeeGees.
Peace and love, peace and love. At least let us remember John Lennon and his unity for peace and love.
Wild West Hero is my favorite song to this day.

So what?
I'm beginning to see a wave of one position or another come and go... and come back again. It's like a tide of ideas. Some good, some bad... you get to decide. But the jerks are everywhere and you will never get away from them unless you become a recluse and then some animal will eat you eventually.
You may as well stick around and speak your mind. Use the "ignore" facility if you need it. There's still a lot of good info here.... and I have at times learned a thing or two from people I first thought were my opponents. It happens.
Stick around.
