Sanford PD at it again - tasering a black man in the back of the head

Two officers from the Sanford Police Department are under investigation after a man wound up in the hospital after being shot with a Taser during his arrest on Sunday.

Investigators said officers attempted to arrest 57-year-old Samuel Fuller for gambling in the streets, but he took off running.

The officers shot Fuller with a Taser during his arrest, but they said he fell to the ground face-first and had to be hospitalized.

Fuller said he doesn't remember much, but he claims he wasn't gambling and was simply on his way home from the grocery store Sunday. He said that's the last thing he remembers before waking up in the hospital.

Mind you this is the SAME police department that said basically said "nothing to see here" after Zimmerman shot Trayvon Martin in cold blood.

This is the SAME police department that did nothing when the son of a policeman punched and knocked out a black homeless man in 2010.

Sounds like despite getting a new police chief, the Sanford PD hasn't changed one bit.

18. Sanford has a new African American police chief, not that it's doing any good

The new guy took over shortly after the Zimmerman affair. Judging from this, it looks like simply putting in an African American police chief hasn't had much effect. The racism is just too deeply ingrained.

Red Berets and all. This happened on SUNDAY, and this report didn't show up until Tuesday. And we are just now seeing it here on DU on Thurs evening. Why didn't this show up on national news on the day it happened or at least first thing Mon AM??? So what did they do, taser him and then beat the crap out of him once they caught up to him? What I want to know is what do the police look like after this altercation? Do THEY have wounds as if they were in an altercation? This burns me up. Damn!

Or I should say: Gambling in the street is a crime in the state of Florida? A place where you can't buy a fucking coke at a gas station without leaning around a six foot rack of lottery tickets, cards, and booklets?

An alleged crime that it's almost worth killing the suspect over, to boot.
