think the verdict was correct. I have Republican acquaintances who feel Zimmerman feared for his life and "had to" defend himself.

But, I think the vast majority of us think Mr. Zimmerman killed an innocent, unarmed child.

of Manslaughter, I believe that the jury reached the only verdict they could, the prosecution was so inept and couldn't prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt and if they couldn't prove that, then the jury had to acquit.

You may not like it, but that's how our justice system is set up.
It's better that 100 guilty people go free than 1 innocent person goes to prison.

I have no sympathy for GZ, he brought it on himself, Trayvon was an innocent kid just trying to go home.

would honestly have more sympathy for GZ than for the kid that he killed?

I am aware of all of the rationalizations used to justify "sympathy" for GZ, but they sure as hell don't belong here.

The explanation seems to be dependent on bad law, rather than ethics or morals.

And following a bad law, or bad or incomplete instructions, doesn't go far enough to exonerate GZ unless the jurors themselves have preconceived bigoted assumptions.

In my opinion, of course.

I assume that patronizing tone will be gone when it's their kid on the line.

That's part of the problem.

Every kid is our kid...or should be.

I don't favor either of them. Don't know them personally, just know them as abstractions from a trial. I try not to favor people in trials. Makes for nasty perceptual biases.

Also don't buy the hype. The hagiography around TM is rivalled only by the vilification of GZ. Hard to see either as a real person. The result of nasty perceptual biases.

Zimmerman shouldn't have gotten out of his car and instigated a confrontation to kill an unarmed kid. NO excuse for that whatsoever.

Zimmerman should reap all the fear, paranoia and unhappiness he will have sown for himself.

He went hunting for a black youth. He found one and killed him. And he got away with it. I hope he walks scared, no petrified, for the rest of his life. Then he can tell us all about "gawd's will".
