(8,361 posts)I chose "Dawn's Early Light". Well, one of the reasons. I like the "Morning in America" motiff. The wet clean road surface, and a sense of patriotic new beginnings with the line of flags in what looks like a welcoming spot.
But like many others, I think all of these are just great. My second choice was the Annie Oakley motel shot. It is a compelling shot.

(11,589 posts)I will stick with my vote, but having you write those words really took it home for me.
Very few people. Maybe it touches on nostalgia of what we want or what we don;t want to see.
I don't know, but it was an incredibly thought provoking comment about the theme.

(90,789 posts)I'm hosting so I'm not voting (unless there is a tie). And I hope there isn't a tie. It would be a hard choice.

(1,576 posts)the more I look at 'Rural Free Delivery' the more I like it. photographically it is very good. as far as the topic ... it did it for me because, even though there is a flag in the picture, it was not feel like a cliche to me.
The rugged remoteness reminded me of just how vast and varied this country is. Out in the middle of 'wherever' this person/family is provided a service created for the common welfare. the flag, the 'i heart ny' sticker, the bullet ridden mailbox, the makeshift fence, the smiley face sticker ... all raise questions in my mind and at the same time tell me part of a story that i will most likely never know fully.
i have been given a glimpse into a part of americana that is seldom seen.
thanks to the photographer and also kudos to the rest because as always ... it is never an easy choice when there is so much talent and so many great photos.

(90,789 posts)have a seasonal contest. (Winter, Spring, etc..)
We normally have 3 threads of 10 photos each. You vote in each thread and the top 10 between those threads move on to the final round.
Sorry for not clearing that up earlier!
