Fort Carson is investigating whether "several" soldiers sexually assaulted minors.
The post won't release details on how many soldiers were involved and where the female minors were attacked. A post spokeswoman said Fort Carson is handling the investigation on its own, a possible indication that the incidents took place on the post south of Colorado Springs.
While the post won't release details of what may have occurred, they are asking for public trust.
"We assure the community that the Army is taking this situation seriously and updates will be provided as information is made available," the post said in a statement. The military has been rocked this year by a rising tide of sexual assault in the ranks. A Pentagon study found as many as 26,000 troops may have been sexually assaulted in 2012.

As many as 7 Fort Carson soldiers are now at the center of a sexual misconduct investigation involving underage girls. It's believed the soldiers met the teens through an online social dating web site.
News 5 has confirmed the U.S. Army Criminal Investigative Unit along with the Colorado Springs Police Department are conducting separate investigations into this matter.
